I use a program called ems freesurfer (it`s available at downloads.com)… I NEVER get pop-ups anymore…stopped 556 since i started my computer (only works for IE)
Ive only been able to find a trial version of this on downloads.com; If anyone would like it, I stumbled accross a version that doesnt run out. Just lemme know.
Cookies…best handled on a case by case basis…
I also check for spyware incase something gets thru, spybot search & destroy works pretty well, and is free (also at downloads.com)

I run IE6 with no firewall and have absolutely no problems with pop ups. I also use the default security of medium for browsing and allow cookies and all that fun stuff. You guy’s suck at the interweb. 
Or you just don’t realize your machine has been hijacked and fucked up…
everything runs fine and I have no problems with popups or anything like that.
