its not “ALWAYS” tommys fault, but when hes throwing int., fumbling the ball left and right, over throwing and under throwing the passes then yeah it is his fault. He fucking sucks.
It’s sad when you would feel much better if your rec. was your QB. Randle el did what maddox couldn’t…complet a pass (to his own team).
sorry i left my ticket for the bandwagon at home and i’m just tellin it from a non bias perspective. I’m not a tommy maddox fan BUT there is more to the story.
mike, your point still doens;t address my point that maddox is still on the team which IS a coaching decision. if you believe maddox sucks then you have to believe in bad coaching because they keep him on the team.
He won’t be back next year. They are not going to hand him his pink slip in the middle of a game…

guys get released every week. the dolphins released a RB 2 weeks ago and he scored a two point conversion for the pats against the dolphins to beat them yesterday. the steelers could have released tommy any time after the jags game. fact is if a QB is on your team, 3rd string or not you realize that he is a play or two plays from being your QB. If you don’t think he can do it, u shouldn’t have him there. you love to skirt around something when ur wrong, don’t you. :rolleyes:
There is alot more to cutting a player than whether or not he’s good, especially in the middle of the season… Remember us giving Maddox that contract extension a year or two ago when him and his agent were bitching? Yep, that has come back to haunt us now b/c if we tried to release him now that contract would fuck the Steelers square in the ass.
I’m not saying that I understand exactly whats going on with him, but there is alot more to it than “Maddox sucks” or “they keep him because they know he’s only 2 plays away”. It’s like trying to solve a Calculus problem by counting on your fingers.
the Steelers dont do that shit…and the Steelers dont care about the way other programs are run, yes they have given maddox too many chances, but it is HIS fault he screwed them up…
how do you know what the steelers do or what they care about? fact is they have to care about what is going on in the rest of the league because that is their competition. they release and resign guys constantly. hell they just had rod rutherford for two weeks and relaeased him. A few years ago there was a FB, forget his name, white guy, anyway they relased him like every other week. they do the same with cushing and did the same with st. pierre. It happends. Don;t be so nieve to think the steelers care more about their players than the next team. they are all the same.
not to a veteran and i will continue my “naive” stance, you misunderstood that they dont care what other programs do, of course they want to know…they dont care to follow anyone else’s choices themselves…i can not remember the last time they cut a veteran midseason that held a starting position for any good length of time (especially QB) for any reasons other than behavior/attitude
Ok then, tommy will probably start this week and not by choice, either way if all these people love the steelers like they say they do, show the guy their support (cause that what ur a fan is supposed to do) build him up instead of tearing him down cuase its will only hurt the team if he does bad. I can’t beleive something this simplistic has to be said. Hurting a steeler hurts the steelers.
what i meant by it being a good thing for Maddox that we’re away this week…He’ll have a little less pressure in the stadium, which COULD lead to him settling down in the pocket, not being as scared to take one in the chin in order to make a big play (and hopefully several decent smaller plays happen for him early to aid this process.)

I think he will do alright, every quarterback has a bad game. If he does have to play next week he’ll do fine, he wont have 65,000 fans booing him when he takes the field. (i find it extremely pathetic that you boo your own quarterback, no matter how bad you think he is)
