sorry for the long read

Well, i never thought that I would be the one making a post like this, but here goes…

My current job of 7+ years is going down the shitter, and fast. Its nothing but a bitch and moan, back stabbing, witch hunt there lately. And after watching a good friend and co worker get fired today, for the most bullshit reason i have ever seen, enough is enough. I’m sick of walking in a place i HATE, feeling like there is a target on my back. I wont go into details, other then i have HAD it with this dead end, low paying shit hole.

Anyway…I don’t really know what I’m looking for…I currently work in a warehouse making approx $13 per hour. I would love to do something in the automotive business, as i have some personal experience, ie: a ton of motor swaps, performance installs, brakes blah blah blah…I have pretty much done everything on a car at least once.

My up to date experiences include everything computer related, ie: ms office etc etc etc…(the standard stuff)…plus Fedex and ups shipping systems…inventory control, using scan guns/software…i have tons of customer svc. experience, as well as general warehousing, machine operating, forklift certified, and overhead crane certified (probably expired by now). Shipping, receiving, Canada customs etc all under my belt…and thats just a TINY portion of my experience.

My problem, I am tired of all of the above…I’ve been doing it for years and years now. I need something more challenging, more “hands on”, something i love…or at least like. Something i can do throughout the day, and feel like i got something accomplished. It doesn’t HAVE to be in auto related…I just prefer it. It’s like my “calling”. My other problem… I make $13 an hour, so it has to be close to that. Benefits I’m not worried about as i can go under the wifes if i have to.

My BIGGEST requirement is that i get a job, that offers room for advancement/growth…i am a FAST learner, and typically, master tasks quickly and easily…which leaves me where i am today and have been for almost 7 years, at a dead end. Other requirement…it has to be full time, days, and a steady “not going anywhere” business. I don’t want a job that will close up or not need me after a year. I don’t want to be in this position again…whatever i get, I’m in it for the long haul, so long as i enjoy it.

Its been so long since I’ve last looked for a job. I’m lost and confused at the moment. But it will be the best thing for me. Anyone know of any place hiring where i could fit in? I keep hearing great things about Derrick corp…but i have no clue what they do, or if they are hiring. I only know 1 thing about Derrick…Newman! LOL. If anyone knows of something or has any tips on places, please PM me and give me details. Id like to make my move sooner then later.

I would try some of the big places on the Island.APP I might actually have a good hook up for you and they start off at 14 an hr.Also seriously think about the Casino.They make pretty good coin there

this may be the same as derek’s gig, but you can make huge $$ working on the new windmills that are being put in. most of the guys make it half way up and freeze right up.

otherwise you can come work in my warehouse, it is at around $9-10/hr (shitty i know) with benefits. lots of room for advancement into sales

i think derrick starts at 12 or 13 if you work nights. I can get you in, i’m sure.

How many positions is derrick hiring for? Ive been trying to get my Sean to hook me up there, overnights = :tup:

:lol: thats funny. derrick starts you at 10$ unless you start in welding. just because you work overnight doesnt mean you make more hourly, you still get 10bucs plus 15% differential for surrendering your life.

But seriously, everyday before i go to work at derrick i stair into the mirror and tell myself theres something better out there for me. This helps to keep me from throwing a hair dryer into the tub with myself.

You want a job that helps you feel accomplishment?? dont work at derrick unless you like the movie ground hog day.

you want room for advancement?? dont work at derrick, they need to figure out whether or not they are expanding and that is the only time i foresee any kinda advancement. Ive worked there for 3yrs and i have yet to see anyone advance to anything. shit, im still waiting to make the same hourly wage that i left at my last job 3yrs ago.

If you like to work lotsa overtime, get treated like your retarded, and build the same thing day in and day out then derrick is the place for you.:slight_smile: Oh, and you have to enjoy working in 95+degree conditions with close to 100percent humidity. Its a blast, i love it.

If it wasnt for the ben’s i woulda quit a long time ago.:frowning:

you might not wanna know what taht is…maybe being hung upsidedown washing windows from the 57th floor of a building with the rope tied to your ankles and no saftely line and you have to manual pull yourself up because its not a powered winch system that will bring you back…

but yea let me know of a 40/hr job.
