WTStrip, 1st gen RX-7 (or other RWD POS ready for scrapyard)

Thanks, but that engine won’t fit, and it’s too heavy.

I have a new plan, Suzuki Swift GT engine (1.3l, 100hp stock) bolts right to a Samurai tranny, I have found an engine, but I need a donor car for the rest of the mechanicals like steering rack/column, switches, pedals, misc electrical, cooling system, any Metro or Swift will do. I will still need to choose a rear end (Samurai won’t work, too skinny and it’s offset) Amy Metros or swifts laying around? Or maybe even a sprint turbo. Best bet would be a swift GT so I can get all in one, or a samurai.

This is the company I plan on using to buy the frame when I do mine. The 3200 for the frame, front suspention arms, and complete body is well worth the cost for the time saved in fabrication.

the last time i was at able auto, i saw about 5 of these cars.

its on chew rd off of saunders settlement in wheatfield.

hi, read much?

^ confused me…bonacci was saying he should buy the kit with the body and frame already done to save time. and you quoted that, and then quoted that eMKay wants to have it done to compete next year. confused :gotme:

If Mike bought that he would have to wait until the year 3200 to compete in the competition.

$2007 challenge, it is not only the year, but the maximum price of the vehicle.

2007 A.D.

2007 U.S. Dollars

GRM’s $2007 Challenge

get it?

^ OOOOOOOOOOO, gotcha. well then.carry on

Yeah, but I have a welder and I know how to use it, so I will save $2800 by making my frame. So it’s totally NOT worth it.

This is a U-pull it place? Or are they beaters for sale?

I edited my thread because I have found the first piece of my project, a Samurai tranny. So it will be Suzuki powered and I would prefer a G13B or a G10 turbo (1.3 DOHC or 1.0 turbo) as they bolt right to the sammy tranny. I need from the donor car all the other mechanical stuff like rack, pedals, wiring, cooling and whatnot. I still need a rear axle too. Corolla or RX7 will work.

Its a U pull it place.

Give them a call and ask if they still have some older rx7s. I havent been there in a while, but like I said, the last time I was there they had like 5 turbo rx7s and older turbo Z’s.

there is an older Z at at m&m on walden. im sure you could get the rest of the stuff you need as well. hell, why not tell them what you need to do and ask if you could just buy the whole car, and have them drop it off for you.

That’s not a bad idea, M&M has 4 or 5 metros, that’s the car I need the most stuff from. The rest I can piece together like the rear axle from a RWD car, and the engine I will have to get elsewhere since Swift GT’s are so rare. for the engine wiring harness and ECU I can do Megasquirt

haha, the new yorker attitude never fails. I didn’t read this whole thread, nor do I care to, I simply referred a link I have relating the subject. I am sorry if I wasted 15 seconds of his time… Emmkay didn’t explain the challenge or refer a link for information on it for those of us that dont know.

What sort of body do you plan to run??? What jig are you going to use when you weld up the frame? and how are you going to make precise and true a-arms and calculate steering rack position to keep your bump-steer in check?

I would suggest this book (If you dont already have it). I got one at borders on walden

That book is for building with a Miata Donor and an already built frame, plus he has pretty much the entire build on his website. I have the real book by Ron Champion detailing the building of the frame and suspension pieces. The frame doesn’t require a jig, the plans for the jig needed for the control arms and rear axle modifications are in the book.

My car will look pretty much like that one, maybe the same color, I like that Lotus chrome orange.

If you didn’t read it why did you even bother to post?
