Seriously. I was just talking about this yesterday. Anyone who has gone skydiving should be able to relate. You don’t feel like you’re jumping into anything from that high up.
I think there is a difference though when you are attached to something that is attached to the ground. You feel every sway and vibration like that…you have some sense of height. I LOVE flying, being high up in a plane, but that video was a different feeling
I’d be more afraid on a 2nd story roof than when I’m 300’ up tied to a rope.
This ^
I started working during the winter times so grip/ice was a big issue, and the wind and snow just made the job so much harder. I started the job at the worst time possible, at first I could barely keep up with the other guys but once my body adapted it was a pretty fulfilling experience. It’s actually very nice and peaceful up on the towers.
We also had to rappel down sides of buildings to calibrate and align some antennas… Those ones i absolutely hated, you are basically hanging from a harness feet dangling praying you checked your equipment thoroughly and nothing fails you. I much rather climb a tower than do those building side antenna calibrations/alignments.
Weather always seem to work against us too and we have to work rain/snow or shine. Icy rain + metal towers not fun at all.
Link down again!!! Wanted to watch it again
That shits nuts
I’ll host it. Link coming soon
I’d probably do that. I’m not terribly afraid of heights.
or late entrances
or claiming he would do something completely unreasonable, knowing he’ll never get the chance to do it
or spiders
Reminds me of this video, which i think in nuts
haha, well I was in vacation in California, so I wasn’t online at all. I also think I’ve climbed ricketier structures which, while not as high, were probably more dangerous.
highly doubt it.
A fall from 200 feet is just as deadly as a fall from 1700 feet. However, that antenna isn’t falling apart under your feet, as some structures that I have climbed do…
Ugh icy rain sucks. I hate high winds when on towers. That tower in high winds will probably sway a bit, the only thing holding it straight up are guy wire and anchors. I could/would probably try to climb somthing that big, but I couldnt see doing it un-safety’d, I would probably have 2 lanyards, and keep moving them up so im never unhooked. Even slipping and being saved with your safety would be extremely unpleasant. I hope that guy doesnt drop any tools, It could end up killing somebody. Ive heard of some tower workers having lanyards on certain tools though…
Awesome.
That takes a great amount of balls and/or ignorance I would think
the best part is that even after risking his life for a clean window he still doesn’t get a beach view.
“WTF!!! I cleaned the shit out of that window and I still can’t see the beach!!!”
