UNION
10lb package, no size specified IRC… I dont remember when I did it fri.
Flat rate boxes are sweet, but only if you can fit the shit in there. I use them from time to time too. Usually its printed off online, taped to the box and dropped off at the UPS or USPS place by my work. walk in, walk out, never waited for more then 1-2 minutes if that.
It depends, and i do my homework when i ship stuff. USPS is cheaper at times than UPS, others not I guess.
They should get rid of the clerks and just make walk up booths. Place the package on the scale, have a simple laser scanner get an aprox size of the box for you. touch screen enter destination address and return address. Prices VS shipping option pops up, you click SELECT and pay. swipe your credit card and it prints out the label. Have ONE employee there that grabs the box, puts it on the conveyor belt behind them and next person steps in. have like 10 of them in a line. 10 less employees needed to do retard work, and they can go find a better job.
/\ one of the few times I say get rid of positions. Sorry but if all you know is how to work as a check out clerk… its time to step up your game BRO.
That would be so much better. Quite a few post office employees are miserable cunts despite having a great paying simple job.
Agreed. Great in theory but it’s too corrupt.
I am on the fence about unions.
As an unemployed teacher, I dislike the teacher’s union and feel they are too big and powerful and that they are hurting local communities.
However, I feel that certain people need the support of unions, and they are unskilled workers. And this is where the issues of a nationalized healthcare come into play. I feel that people who work minimum and low wage paying jobs need to be able to have access to low costs health care, as well as support to keep them from being fired without just cause.
I know people are going to rebuttal with, “well they should get better paying jobs, or get an education or trade and better themselves.”
Unfortunately, there will always be people who can not do that, and there is always a need for unskilled, low paid workers. That is reality, and why shouldn’t they get the same health care as someone who makes a $100,000 a year? And why should they be treated like scum by shitty corporations?
I am on the fence as well. Personally, like all large organizations, I believe they will be corrupt. In theory, Unions are a great idea. Perhaps major reform can fix it? But, given how ignorant our leads are, I doubt it.
With that said, the real question is: Is Health Care a priv? Or a right? First, I don’t think ANY illegal should be given health care. Period. In a perfect world, we’d provide care for anyone but not when our own people suffer day in and out.
I really wish I had an educated answer to give other than point out that what we have, doesn’t work. I have said it before that I realize welfare must exist. I realize tax must exist. However, it is disturbing to see some people life better than I when I KNOW I work harder. I am not talking about the common guy but the welfare person dropping kid after kid.
I really don’t know. It’s too fucked up of a system for me to get my head around it.
Yeah < 14% of American workers (non governmental) are unionized. THAT’S WHY THE ECONOMY IS IN THE SHITTER.
Considering 10% makes or breaks the economy, he still has a point.
It’s a trickle down effect too. The amount of money dumped into the unions, the amount of money dumped into unnecessary salaries, the increasing costs of the product (schools, auto manufacturers, etc.), etc.
Wait, what was his point? Bash all labor unions?
In an age where retirement is just a dream for most of our generation, (without many of us even understanding that that the rug has been pulled out from under us, by our employers and by the government), skyrocketing health insurance costs, stagnant (or worse yet, declining) wages, forced salary positions that basically equate to wage theft; I argue that REAL labor unions are more pertinent NOW than in the last 30-40 years.
Edit: Forgot to mention the age in which corporations are free to pump as much money as possible into political elections.
hey, don’t be dissin’ on corporations, man. they are considered people too ya’know!
also, i believe healthcare is a right. people have the right to live a health life, and get the best treatment for the disease they may have.
