I think he got rid of it because he’s rockin a F250 Diesel now, I haven’t been over to his house lately
That civic looks damn good in that pic, but didn’t look like it when Matt Ryan bought it, what happened?
That picture doesn’t show rust :tong That’s the reason I sold the car… I hate rust.
My buddy before Matt owned the car, his name is Dave did basically all that work to it as far as the swap, the seats, the exhaust, etc. except when he owned it he had some issues going on with it then gave up on it and eventually sold it to Matt.
I did the OEM headlights, OEM tails, and new exhaust as well as some cleaning up under the hood.
Now Matt Ryan (bootlegcivic on here) has it turbo’d and the thing moves! I wen’t for a ride in his car, and it’s by far my favorite EG civic I’ve ever been in.
Yeah I know, he promised me a ride sometime. I heard its pretty quick.
'91 Honda Accord
First ride, bought it in college and loved the car. Slept in car the first night I had it. Put about 30K on it in one year of driving between Boston/Albany/NY City. Little maintenance. No problems except when I sold it the front pipe had a bad leak and it was louder than almost any rice. Left rear tire was also bald (bad habit of hitting up only right turn on-off ramps on the way to work).

'87 Toyota Supra Turbo
First turbo and RWD. Purchased for $800, and this was back in '99. Ran well but needed brakes, so I had the brakes done. Overheated after driving more than 1 hr, turning heater on seemed to cool car. The whole time I had it I suspect it had a BHG, but eh, I didn’t have money to fix. Instead, I made the genius move of buying bleeder valves from Home Depot and cranking up the dying turbo to 15 psi. Surprised I didn’t damage myself nor the car while I had it. The Goodyear Eagles saved me plenty of times (although not the time I almost hit a parked car trying to perform a burnout somewhere in Troy… :headbang) Sold to some kid at RPI.

'91 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 (#1094/2000)
First turbo and AWD. I fell in love with the sleeper look and the performance of this car after test driving one (for fun) on Central Ave. sometime around '99 (with no intention to buy). After co-oping I saved up some money and bought one in '00. Wanted to mod it, but had no $$. With a bleeder set at 15 psi (always the magic number for modding) I took out several unsuspecting cars off the line, and it never got stuck, even 2-3 ft snow banks. Eventually blew the engine, I think I overreved and either threw a rod or maybe chipped off some valvetrain parts. Very sad day but I sold the car only to a NYC DSM member who was going to do a full build up. Not sure what happened to the car…

'91 Nissan Sentra SE-R
Purchased in '01 with 185k on the clock and frozen rear brakes plus dying front wheel bearings. I did the brakes and registered the car. Fixing wheel bearings were too much for labor so I just drove it as it was. It was a blast. I’ve driven the B13, B14, and B15 Sentra SE-R and this one is the best by far… Lightweight, torquey and I absolutely beat the #$#@$ out of this thing, like redline shifts out of every toll booth (was commuting on Garden State Pkway at the time with no EZ Pass so every toll booth meant 7500 RPM in 1st and 2nd. Plus hitting every corner like it was the last one ever. Never had any problems with it. Became a believer in the SR20DE as a robust engine. Got it compression tested before buying and it was still within 15% on all cylinders. Tight. I hope to have one of these again sometime.

'95 Nissan Skyline GTS-t
Moved to Japan for work and picked up this turbo rear-driver. Threw some Advan wheels on it, didn’t do much else though. Inline six was extremely smooth and decent pickup. More of a grand touring machine, although the R33 body style wasn’t my cup of tea. I was dreaming of an R32 GT-R…

'90 Nissan Skyline GT-R
I had known about this car since it came out and saved up for one. Finally got the chance to own one in March of '04 after choosing to extend my stay in Japan. All the characteristics of a powerful rear driver but when you gave it too much gas mid corner you could literally feel the torque distribute to the front wheels and the car actually dig in as if you knew what you were doing. Magic, especially for a knucklehead like me… Correcting with opposite lock required so little effort, and this was late 80s tech? All I can say is it was not the most powerful or responsive car (I’d give the Evo the advantage there) I have owned… But the overall package was brilliant. I put some Nismo suspension, stainless brake lines, and rims from the R34 GT-R on this car. But I could only eat so much ramen on a daily basis so quit modding. Prior to leaving Japan, I sold car to Gulliver (local car auction). It was a sad day. And yes, I did want to bring it with me to NY but could not justify the ridiculous costs involved nor did I want to risk the car with shady registration / VIN / papers etc.

'05 Mitsubishi Evolution VIII RS
Having owned a Galant VR-4, I was also aware of the Evo having lived in Asia/Japan, and I always loved the Evo VII. Coming back to the US where selection of cars was limited, I wanted to experience what all the journalists were raving about with the Evo. But I wanted to set my car apart from the others on the road. I decided to go with an RS. Stripped down, wingless. Then perform a full VII conversion on it. I’m not a cosmetics guy really, but I hated the Evo VIII and IX front ends on the car. So I brought a crap load of body parts from Japan with me to NY, along with a Japan-only set of Enkei RPF-1s in white. I got all this stuff before I bought the car. Moved back to upstate NY and found a cherry RS in Connecticut, and the price was right and it was completely stock. Went for the test drive and man, the steering and grip just blew me away. I was already expecting the on-off throttle response because of the small displacement, but wow the way the car reacted at turn in with the stock Yokos… Being an RS I also loved how there was no power windows, no stereo, no sound deadening, no trunk mat. The chassis was solid and you could feel it just all moving in one piece whether you were cornering or flying over broken pavement. I know a lot of people swear early GT-Rs are the #$#@ but with the difference in age and relative lack of stiffness in the GT-R chassis (possibly due to age too), it’s no contest, stock to stock the Evo is so much easier to drive and I bet almost anyone would be faster in it… I was sold within a couple minutes of that test drive. Bought the RS in Sept. of '06. Completed all body mods and paint by November. Drove it around until May of '07 and sold the Evo.
