What year motors can I stuff into a 85 yz 250 frame?
youll probably have to do some customization with anything that isnt the stock engine. if possible, try to get a '99+ yz250 engine…its basially the same design thats still used in the 06 and it is just a badass motor.
if it’s anything like the 85 yz125 the chain and sproket drive is on the other side of the bike which is the last year…you’d be limited unless you get really involved in it
if i remember right, that was just the 125, not the 250.

My thought exactly…too much $$ and effort for what it is worth. If $$ is an issue then there are a ton of good bikes in the 1200+ range. For example 95+ CR250, 99+YZ250, 98KX250…ect. All these should below the 2k range…just have to weed out the hammered ones
true. plus the chassis of an '85yz250 isnt really modern enough to handle the power of a modern engine anyways.
have the complete bike there, just needs a motor, thought I might get lucky in finding a cheap complete motor, for a couple hundred.
