Stock block/stock cams is good right around MID 6XX-LOW 7XX. At that level, stock crank is suspect and any sort of knock can be really bad. He has upgraded pistons though so he should be good for a bit more but the stock cams will be an issue. 7XX is the magic #.

Yea, but even if it can handle it, any sort of knock at that power level is just bad. I am very conservative and am a cheap skate so I never bothered upgrading the block.

Shawn, and dont take this the wrong way, but why is it every import guy always cries or talks about low boost, crank the fucker up, you guys spend alot of money, then never max out your potential… Just wondering.

I am not sure why people use it. A lot of time it’s a crutch but boost is dependent on octane for FI cars and not everyone runs around on race gas. The 3/S crowd talks about it a bit more because of the huge variant between pump and race gas. My buddy’s EVO runs 30PSI on 93 octane where as I can only run about 16PSI (MID 4XX) and then need higher octane or the meth.

Depends on what low and high boost is.
But, yea, that’s the bad thing about FI. You might need higher octane to keep making power.
Oh speaking of race gas they have it now at Altamont ave and it looks to be 8.95 for 110 and i think 9.95 for 112 is what i saw on the signs!!
