Transmission rebuild options

Car is fucked. Dealer changed the transmission fluid two weeks ago and now the car doesnt want to move while in D.

Towed it to the dealer and they say I need a new tranny to the tune of $5300.

Who rebuilds around here? Who wants a E55 on the cheap with a fucked up tranny? Hook a brother up with some options

If you thought the pulley install was difficult, can’t wait to see this project.

:frowning: if you need help wrenching buddy lmk

Northeastern in hamburg. They would probably even take it out and reinstall it for you. Give em a call for a quote.

After they buy the 80 special Mercedes tools they need to do it lol

Might be the best gif ive seen… Did the dealer fuck it up?

5 hours factory (rape) warranty, 7.3 open retail to R&I, .5 to fill with fluid, so between fluid and labor, expect a grand to install, and a $4k unit from merc isn’t too out of hand.

I still don’t believe this is a $5k+ issue. The fact that it is at the dealer, undriveable, makes it difficult to get a second opinion…which is why I wouldn’t trust their estimate. I dunno…not knowing much more than what you’ve mentioned it just sounds all too convenient for the dealer to have you by the balls like this. Defend yourself, SGW.

I’ll buy it for 5k and 1 hug. It’ll be a good hug though, like one you’d give to a cousin that you really get along with but haven’t seen in a while.

Wonder if dealership didn’t put enough transmission fluid in and burned up some clutches…

You should have never gotten the fluid changed.

This. That late in the game all the friction material is in the fluid. Especially after all the tender loving car it’s been through making many jams.

This information would have proved useful prior, but lesson learned. Imma show up at the dealer tomorrow and get to the bottom of this. I do think they fouled it up, its a MB USA service recommendation to change it so, someone goofed.

Was the tranny on its way out before u changed the fluid?

I would bet that no shop around here can fix a Benz tranny, only thing some places will do is remove and replace one.
