03 vw unable to lock car

ok, here is the problem. for some reason my 03 gti is receiving a signal that makes it think one of my doors are open. i made sure all are closed including the hatch, and it still says one is open. i can not lock my car because of this. not even manually, the locks pop back up, and the hatch can be opened at anytime, when usually have to to release it. i did change my brake lights minutes before this issue, and use the inside hatch release to open the hatch, so maybe something happened with that. any ideas??
thanks.:lockd::lockd::lockd::lockd::lockd:

also, when i pull the hatch release button inside, you cannot hear the actuator so i do not think it is working, unless that is because it already thinks the door is unlocked/open.

your door switch is beat. chances are it could be your hatch switch since you were back there changing bulbs.

that is a pretty big fail if they won’t let you lock your doors because of it. sounds like the latch on the hatch might be stuck open.

actually… there is no “fail” since you can manually lock both the doors and hatch with the key. The issue is using the key fob to remotely lock / unlock the doors and as stated the hatch switch inside the car.

disconnect the battery and then manually lock it in the meanwhile.

manual locks FTW.

I don’t believe that you can’t lock it manually lol. the system is vaccum driven, so if the lines are full of air it might try to open the locks, but something must be really wrong if you are saying you manually lock the door and the air pushes them open. chances are more so that you shorted the pump and it’s constantly running to open the locks, but you shoudl be able to hear that and can simply unplug the locking pump.

Fuse 14, found it! I didn’t know that the interior light meant all locks and windows…

It needs a door latch, common problem. They are not vacuum driven.

huh? what isn’t vaccum driven? how would one door latch cause locking issues on all doors and the hatch?

the central locking PUMP is located in the hatch or trunk, depending on model, and is surely vaccum driven.
