05 Sentra SE-R Spec V

You’d have to work pretty hard to screw something up on a Spec. I did my own I/H/E install and nothing bad happened at all! Pretty impressive for someone that had never really turned a wrench a car in their life. Lots of support is available through the VBoard.

u are right about the only con on getting a brand new car, it might the only con but its a huuugeee connn… Doing modifications to your car will never be perfect, you will have to go through many adjustments in the short\long run, anything u change on the car will effect the car in overall from a different aspect…

So i guess an “advice” would be is, if you are planning to “heavily mod” the car or wanting to fiddle with it here and there, i personally think getting a brand new car is a retarded idea… You never knwo what can go wrong and last thing u want is spend 30 large on a brand new car, try to mod it and keep dumping more money into it, considering car does nothing but depreciating…but if you like the comfort in buying a brand new car and very lightly modify it, than go for it, it would be your daily driver with a little kick to it…

but if not, definetly look into getting an older jdm\usdm car that costs much less money, therefore your spendings will be much smaller and if u screw up (which everybody does, nothing goes perfect in life) it will cost u much less to fix…

I personally think having a old jdm as a first car to modify is a much much better idea than having a brand new car to modify as a first car…

I personally am not a huge skyline fan tho due to parts and such… See, something goes wrong with your jdm S13, there are quite a few parts that are interchangable with usdm s13’s and there are mechanics u can find… something goes wrong with your skyline, good luck with that… :stuck_out_tongue:

If you have enough money to buy a brand new 05 loaded sentra, i say instead, get a 180\silvia s13, mod it a little, play around with the rwd turbo, get a feeling for it all as your first car, and u’ll still save the half the money from buying a brand new car…

Perhaps…depends on how much you want to mod the car, really.

In my case, I just wanted a new car - plain and simple. As I said, if something happened to this one, I wouldn’t buy another new car.

I think most tuners aren’t really going to install anything too complicated on their new cars for the first while they own it, but hey, that’s just my opinion.

That’s a lot too think about and what not and all good ideas, I guess really what I want is to get more into the mechanical side of a car and I just didn’t have the fortunate case of being a car enthusiasts when I was a bit younger, well I was, I always wanted to drive…soooo…my decision will be made hopefully by August…some sweet S13s and 180sx coming in from Import Concern so maybe…I’ll be in one!

i say if your looking for a car to tinker with go with an older car with a good aftermarket like the 240s, 180s, silvia`s.etc. In my opinion if your gonna spend 5-7k on a s-13, i would spend a little bit more and get an s-14 here, where you can check the background on the car, probably has less kms,and has the exact same amout of after market backing. but thats me.

well that depends on where u getting it from…

surprising a lot of the JDM’s comes with much much less kliks than usdm’s u get here…

Looks like another shady JDM Z32.[/quote]

car was sold and the guy is a great guy who was selling it.

With some contemplation, pros and cons and what not I’ve decided…Silvia K or a 180sx, now I just gotta’ see what those cars are like…I’m an awd junky going to rwd…thanks for all the input and if anyone got some experiences, good or bad, getting a JDM car I’m all ears

i have a s13 with a stock ca18det (rwd+turbo) … if u dont know what it is, ca18det is the sr20’s older precedor …

currently the engine is pure stock but it pulls like a machine, if u want i’ll give u a ride around and u can get a good feeling of the stock engine and u will know what u are working with…

CA engine = RB engine minus two cylinders, both iron block

there was even a ca18de in a gxi skyline in the r32 days

lol

i WISH CA engine was equal to RB engine…

stock RB pulls 2 times better than stock CA :\

^^^^ o so very true…lol i had the chance to drive both cars and i must say the power difference is like chocolate and shit ahah…

none the less i still love my CA

What awd cars have you owned that has made you a “junkie” ? I like awd but drive fwd and rwd, and found them to be fun for different things.

u prolly drove your buddy’s rb26 too…

i drove a 4 door gts-t with stock rb20det in it… much more torque starting at 2k :\

I drive the Legacy right now and drove a Subbie 2.5rs, I’m kinda’ getting sick of driving my mom’s car and since I’ll be starting work I just need some folks responses to their experiences importing cars in and recommendations, what I should look out for so on and so forth.
