now that I think about it. Is it really that hard? I mean if I have say 1 cycle = 1 minute (for arguments sake).
if my firing order is 1,3,4,2.
1
When 1 is at TDC, 3 is at BDC, having finished its intake stroke. 4 is at TDC, having completed its exhaust stroke.
3
When 3 is at TDC, 4 is at BDC, having finished its intake stroke. 1 is at BDC of its combustion stroke.
4
When 4 is at TDC, 1 is at TDC exhaust, 3 is at BDC combustion, and 2 is at BDC intake.
2
When 2 is at TDC, 3 is at TDC exhaust, 4 is at BDC combustion, and 1 is at BDC intake, ready to start the cycle over.
couldnt I just input that in and see what the cam overlap duration is and factor that into the mix?
I am sure I am making this way easier in my head than it actually is on paper/excel. lol
any refrences on how to gather this data? simple java applet would kick SO MUCH ASS, if it existed where I could just input the build specs and RPM and poof out comes all the data!
More or less, yes. I’ve never done it myself, but I can contact some people I know who did this for FSAE to see if they have any tips on it. I’ll let you know what they say.
