100,000 mile check-up

car just hit 100K, what things should be done??? btw its a 94 honda accord lx 2.2L

kevin

timing belt.

water pump, plugs wires, compression test, leakdown test, check alternator for volts, and amps. I’d probably do an alternator belt aswell.

plugs, wires, cap and rotor if it has a distributor, coil, timing belt, pcv valve, check the cats for breakage/blockage, O2 sensors. check your cabin filter, replace it or if it’s synthetic clean it. If it’s an automatic drop that pan. etc, etc.

if some of this stuff looks fairly new… should i replace it anyways???

also to add… if i went cheap on this stuff would it matter, or should i get some name brand, top of the line parts???

u gonna keep the car for a while? if you’re gonna keep it, just remember that you get what you pay for.

WTF? a compresion check, why would you do that. the ony time I would do a compression check is if I had a problem or if i was going to boost a certain taurus.

are alt’s a common failure on theses cars?

i dont’ know hondas but on the SHO typical maintnance would be timing belt, plugs, wires, and adjust the valve lash. everything beyond that is a waste of money unless you are having problems. on the SHO a bad water pump will cause a CPS failure but i don’t think thats the case on hondas. oh and if you hav a manual 100K is usually the time where you make a drain plug for your manual transmission so you can change your fluid, if you have a ATX SHO you have likely replaced the tranny already so you don’t need to change the fluid

damnit i got side tracked. I think the SCCA runs a race errr maintnance checkup every sunday wny-scca.com

Valve Adjustment. Its prolly ticking like every other Honda does.

I’d just stick with a leakdown test 1st. They can almost tell you where your problems are. If a cyl. does bad on a leakdown then I’d comp. test it. Otherwise i would skip it.
