17x7 on an s14... help...

Turns out one of my rims has a crack in it because of a curb rash (thanks to the wicked driver who owned the car last). Well I figure I might as well get some new rims instead of paying to fix the crack in these ones but the only ones I can afford are some 17x7’s… I know those are going to look really sunken into the fender so what do you suggest? I dont even know where to start with the spacers and everything. But basically I want it to be flush in the end with the fender. I know 17x7’s are weaksauce for the s14 but its gonna have to work for a little while. What do you think.

oh yah, the offset is +40

its gay i had them

just save ur money and buy some good wide tires next year. its almost time to throw the steelies on anyways

what about these? http://www.n-e-c-c.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2927

well i just bought some new 215/45/17’s and i heard that they will be (barely) onto the 17x7’s and i got them on 17x8’s right now. but is there anything you can do to make 17x7’s look not half bad?

those 17x8’s would be sweet but i still dont have that kinda dough

How much would it cost to fix the damaged rim? I would think that’s cheaper than buying a new set of wheels. Maybe the guys at Wheel Works can tell you what needs to be done, I’ve heard really good things about that shop.

10 or 15mm spacers would solve alot of the sunken look. But then your going to need longer wheels studs which only Nismo sells and are about $7 US each. Seriously just save your money and buy good wheels once instead of buying wheels now then selling them for half the price 6 months later and buying the ones you originally wanted.

Yah i heard diamond machining and wheel works could do it so I think im going to try and get it fixed (even though the rims should be tossed cuz of the brutal curbage). Or I’ll save up, no point in getting weak ass rims. But still if anyone has any tips to make 17x7’s look good on an s14, tell me!

With a 40 offset.

Hmmm you need about a 30mm spacer. LOL just joking

Honestly save your money and buy something better.

My 177 on the front suck ass and i want to buy 2 179 and roate my 8’s to the front.

Where did you hear that? Spec wheels are 17x7 and the tire size is 215/45-17. They sit perfectly square on a 7 inch wheel.

I read somewhere on son240 that the 215/45/17’s fit onto the 17x7 but just barely and tend to look like balloons. I was going to use them on 17x7’s anyways.

This is a 215/45 on a 17x7. Perfectly square. Only a tire stretching drift dork would say this looks like a balloon.

fair enough. im not arguing that it doesnt fit, never tried, but now i know it does.

how about arp studs in the most common thread pitch? maybe cheaper.

What do you you think i did all around. It was still about $60 for studs and $35 for lugs, then you still have to buy spacers.

so do you think 25mm would be a good spacer to use if I had to go with these wheels? turns out I have 17x7’s on right now.
