If the sticker on a new car states Multi Fuel Capable(or something like that) where it states mpg in big numbers you can use E-85.
They use it in Wisconsin.
I think most new cars are already equiped for E-85.
i realize the thread went away from the montana issue…
…but i’ll bet the price of land out there would skyrocket youd start to see people actually move out there

currently the over all cost of converting coal to oil is higher then normal drilling for oil. So there is no reason to go that route. When the prices of gas get high enough then the method would be used. And the US has more coal then anyone, so when that starts to get used we will be fine for a while. Same thing with canada and the tar feilds. Its all a matter of costs.

Ethonol is not that good of an option. I’ve read an article that pretty much says the energy needed to be put in to produce the ethonol is a lot greater then the energy you get out of it. So its just not effective.
yea, i was just reading that.
here is another interesting artical

this would be easy with an obd1 honda. with crome as engine management (free) you can control fuel multipliers based on intake temps and coolant temps. so the cold start issue wouldnt be an issue at all.
its distilled, like gin…
“In the US most ethanol is made from corn (maize). A US Department of Agriculture study concludes that ethanol contains 34% more energy than is used to grow and harvest the corn and distill it into ethanol.”
edit: that was old data
“A USDA study released in 2004 found that ethanol may net as much as 67% more energy than it takes to produce. Argonne is one of the US Department of Energy’s largest research centers.”
According to Schweitzer it can be made cheaper.:gotme:
Ethanol production may not be cost effective at current volume but with higher demand production and production methods would probably improve.

just make one of those, and do that shit in your backyard
Where are Bo and Luke when you need them?
Edit; Or uncle Jesse of course.
i remember the episode where they made a car run from moonshine…it was classic…
i think it was on top gear last week where they made cars run off of methane gas as-well…u know human and dog poop…they werent nearly as fast as teh petro. car but they still ran…the human poop was faster…now i have no idea on waht the cost of that is but its a good way to dispose of our waste…run ur car off shit
people run all sorts of shit as an octane booster… if i remember right buickgn mentioned using just a little marvel oil to keep the seals from taking a shit. i wonder how the fuel system would hold up to a 50/50 mix.
Im not saying you are wrong, but just that the articles i’ve seen have said the opposite. :gotme:
:word:
Band-aids can’t fix anything, they just cover the problem for a bit.
The unit he used costs $3K. www.freedomfuelamerica.com I was trying to talk my boss into buying one. Of course for some reason you can’t buy a anew diesel powered car in NY
