Nice  look forward to following your progress.
Big difference
After seeing this build I see how beetles weigh so little. LOL Nice work.
x…
I made a tool, not sure I know where it is though…
There is surprisingly little heavy steel in them

I used a big pair of needle nose pliers…the passenger side came off in maybe 3 tries so I thought it was no big deal. but the drivers side was a real pain. I eventually had the pliers and 2 flat head screw drivers in there plus the axle in the way before I could coax it out. I hope it goes back in easier
Came across this video today…I might have to just give it a try with the engine on the workbench
Awesome build!
I feel like you could do a DIY Rotisserie paint job on that frame fairly easily, due to size and weight.
I intend to build one out of some 4x4. I’ve seen plans for nicer steel serous that can work for pan and body but I just don’t think I’d get enough use out of it
Finally got around to doing more work on the frame with the nice weather
Looks good. Thats a LOT of wire wheeling.

I was thinking the same thing
The worst part is it originally had these tar board sound mats all along the tunnel. the stuff clearly did its job as everywhere that it peeled off clean the paint looked brand new, but where it didn’t it was a real bitch to clean off. the stuff would just heat up and smear all over
beyond cool
