1978 vs 1982 Corvette

from my understanding the later 70s and early 80s was bad for all cars. Is he set on those years? 68-72 with the chrome bumpers always looked great. I prefer the early C3s personally.

The '68-'72 will be priced a LOT higher. He might be able to snag a '73 which has a one year only body style for the same price as a '78.

both are a bad choice but if i had to pick one I’d go with the 78

The person who said “we should make cars with red interiors” should be drawn and quartered.

You sir are wrong!

Both of those cars look tacky as shit. I believe I have seen one or two BMW interiors that pulled it off, but that’s is about it. That red seat in the second picture looks SO DUMB.

The audi looks absolutely period.

the 82 has a 700-r4 tranny.

i think we all realize no matter what you buy there will always be some douche bag on here saying how gay it is or how much of a waste of money it is.

Turbo350> 700R4… at least in strength, i guess it depends what he wants to do with it. If its just to drive, he should get which ever he thinks looks better, but i really dont know much about common problems with them so idk… I like the Stringray’s alot!

Avoid the crossfire injection vette’s if you can . The had many problems. I’m sure the last thing he wants to do is be in a situation where he has to constantly be working on his '‘Dream Car’ Because it’s not ever running right.

What’s he plan to do with the car? Keep it stock and cruise around in it? Swap motor? Build it up to be fast? Etc.

^ And why, in particular, those years? Not prodding, curious. I would say that if he’s planning on holding onto it for a while, or spending some money in it, that he should look at the earlier cars. Just better to place funds into IMO.

He will not do a damn thing to the car. He wants a cheap car he can drive to car shows and go look around. He has always liked the late model C3 for some reason.

The car tickles his fancy. Hell some people like how Hondas look.

He will do the absolute minimum to keep the car running. AKA oil changes, tires, fuel. No mods, no resto, no nothing.

What kind of $ he looking to spend? Is he looking for anything in specific such as color, year, etc?

That being the case I would think 1978. The Crossfire injection was not the best thing in the world. Certainly keeping a regular 350 with a carb on it will be much easier and cheaper to keep running. It sounds like he doesn’t give a damn about the collector value, etc, just wants a C3 to drive as cheap as possible.

Here, too. I’d also say go with the carb’d car then. Minimal fiddling, gas, choke, go.

i have had my 82 crossfire injection for 15 years now (yeah i am old). the only problem i have had with the crossfire injection setup is that the fuse blew for the injector 3 times. this is due to mods. another friend of mine who has an 82 crossfire has never had any problems with the injector setup. the only time you have problems with them is when you start to defeat them for tuning purposes. i have never known a person that had a problem with the stock injector setup, and i guarantee none of these tards that are saying how bad it is don’t either… i am waiting on a post saying how someones sisters boyfriends 3rd cousin twice removed worked with a guy that heard of it

I have been looking all over online, and can’t find anyone having problems with the cross fire except when they try changing it out for a carb’ed set up.

thes a 75 on craigslist for 5k. it looks nice. for 5k you cant beat it and its a “stingray”

I’d say 82 if he leaves all stock, IMO better looking front end. Cross fire is fine if he leaves it alone.
