1983 Suzuki GS550E Slow Project.

Just picked up an 83 suzuki gs550 for a whopping $600. So far I’ve replaced the fuel lines and sea-foamed the motor (definatly helped with running). Im in the process of painting all the plastics and the tank black. Im not taking the time to do a great paint job because the tank/side covers will be replaced eventually. I’ll make sure to post up pics and progress as time goes on. I have new end bar mirrors on the way with integrated led turn signals

Future Plans as time goes on:
Complete carb rebuild with re-jetting and individual filters
4-into-1 exhaust
replace broken side fairings and partially rusted gas tank
Properly paint new/existing fairings/tank.
Tear down to just frame and paint the frame red.
Paint all engine covers black.

My ultimate goal is to pick up a newer Buell in about 2 years and keep this as a restoration/project bike because of its age and capabilities.

This should be a great bike once it’s running at it’s full potential.

Should be cheap to insure, great on gas and still a blast to ride.

How are the forks on it? Leaking or fine? If they are a little soft consider putting heavier fork oil in them.

Good luck! :thumb

Sweet, looks a lot like my buddies 83 gs1100e I used to ride a lot.

forks are good. It costs a whopping $8.50 to fill it with premium (only did it for the first fill up to help clear everything out a bit. Then its on to 89). Insurance is only $180/year for liability.
