FS: 1981 Suzuki GS650G

Hi guys,
I know i’m new here but hey I figured i would post this up…

Got my first bike last year, and loved riding it, right up until the end of summer when I upgraded to something sportier  It’s a 1981 Suzuki GS650G, which I am the second owner of–got it from the original owner last year because he was too old to ride it anymore! To the best of my knowledge, it has 38,891 miles on it.

It starts well, runs great, and never left me stranded. I don’t think this bike was ever dropped by the original owner, and I have never dropped it.

I have the title, it is clean and clear. I have a clymer’s manual for it somewhere, too, if you want that.

I have had the following work done on this bike:

-At time of purchase last year, had all fluids replaced with full synthetic where possible, had drive splines checked and packed with new moly.
-Had oil changed regularly through the summer
-Put a new set of Pirelli Sport Demon tires on it.
-Had valve cover gasket and base gasket replaced.
-Had the carbs cleaned and balanced.
-Had the choke cable replaced.
-I also replaced the stock mirrors with ones you can point in a useful direction.

The issues I know of with this bike are:

-The oil light has started coming on when it starts up, and then goes off after it warms up. There are no leaks and I’m not burning oil, so I don’t know what’s up with that.

-The seat pan is also in pretty ugly shape, there’s a tear in the seat cover and you’ll want to get it replaced or repaired before you think about riding around in the rain a lot.

-The instrument cluster doesn’t light up. Well, it did when I first got it, and then it stopped. And then I went over a bump and it started lighting up again for a while, but then it stopped. So there’s probably a short, or just some old wiring that needs to be upgraded.

-And, when you get right down to it, the paint job is ASS. Seriously. The metal is great, but the paint is all ugly and faded. I suppose you can expect that after 25 years.

All in all, it’s a good bike, it rides really well, and it will make a fantastic beginner bike, daily driver, or whatever else you wanna do with it.
I plan to fix all issue with the motorcycle before spring if i get no buyers.

These are pics from when i bought the bike. It was pulled out of the garage to take the picture and then put back in. The bike is stored inside covered.
