yep, speed boats are ill-nasty. I got a chance to go a Hustler factory in the hampton’s one time. They were building a 52’ boat with 3 of those fucillo huge 1100hp motors. The outdrives are so big it’s almost unbelievable. Guy told me it would do about 160-170mph on flat water, which would equate to something like 60-80 out in the ocean in the rollers. I couldn’t image cutting through 3-4 foot rollers at 80 mph. Fucking nuts.
Sure enough. That’s it. I never realized that the boat I read about being the poker run pace boat and that goldenrod/red boat were the same boat, but I remember it was GI boat shop’s boat so that must be it.

Cool boat.
Still a great boat. This makes the Grady-White 282 Sailfish my buddy has look like an econo-boat. We blew threw 16 gallons the other night, and we were out for 4hrs, maybe 1.5hrs actually under power. Twin Yamaha 200hp direct injection two strokes.
I wish I could convince my father to get this since we hit rocks out near Woodlawn beach a couple weeks ago and destroyed the props, shafts, and struts. The boats out for a month and he’s getting antsy not having a boat in this heat. It’s the first time since 1987 they haven’t had a boat to use for the summer.
