1986 Honda Rebel Bobber Build!

As some of you may know me and my dad took a budget based build on this bike, he went out paid 800 bucks for the rebel and about 200 in parts. Here are some before and quite a few after pics. We did document the entire process with photos and i will upload the build as it progressed later on, we are about 95% complete on this project and just tieing up loose ends and last mins adjustments:) I know we didnt build a huge expensive bike but for just over 1 grand I think it will be fun to hit the streets on. All of the work including the paint was done in the shed you see behing the bike, And for everyones info all of the US army stuff is on the bike because my grandpa has been getting very ill in and out of the hospital latley… WE decided to make this bike in memory of him for his service in the Korean war. enjoy the photos:)

Paint color before we threw on clearcoat, the clear coat made it to shiny IMO…

You guys did a great job, bad ass little bike!

Thanks man we did this very rushed like 2 weekends! This was a blast and im already looking for an older crotch rocket now for me and him to build, I wanna do the whole extended swing arm, all flat black with bright color custom paint! First we have a few more steps on this bike, new rear tire, and have the cables and brake lines shortend a bit, both are the only things we cant do ourselfs… Also maybe a cafe racer in the near future not sure.

This is exactly what I want to do. Awsome job!

Wow! Awesome job!! I love it!

A few suggestions:

  • Spray paint the light housings, mirror rear shock, exhaust flat black. Essentially no chrome.
  • heat wrap the header.
  • Consider modifying an army supply store bullet case and use that as the battery box cover.
  • May be side mounting speedo?

my dad likes a tad bit of chrome on it, wants to take the rear shocks of and make it a hardtail, he does want black heat wrap, and he wanted to keep speedo there, but he does wanna set up a suicide shift with clutch on that!!!

A pic I took today on our first trip out with it there was alot of bike swapping my dad loves the snappyness of my 07 and i love the feel on a bobber, deff looking into the bluecollar bobber kit for my bike now:)

Nice. Did you guys paint the headlight housing also? just wondering.

One thing I noticed is you painted the entire shock black, did you guys replace the shock shaft with a black one (or was it orginially black)? or did you paint it black?

I am not so sure if the shock shaft should have a paint finish on it, that’s why I asked.

yea I painted the entire shock lol all paint… hope that does not lead to trouble? and not yet my dad can not deciede if we should paint headlight housing yet:)

took home first place with this bike today lol
