'87 honda cbr 600 hurricane rebuild (56k f off (if that still exists))

so i pulled the old bike out of the barn to sell…

http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?155582-87-honda-hurricane-600

i wanted to sell a running bike so i thought i’d change the chain and spark plugs. things snowballed out of control once my friend and i started to tear into things…

i figured, “fuck it, we’re tearing it apart, let’s make it what i want it.”

the goal: make it look like an old u.s. army bike.

you don’t like me making an old japanese bike look like an old u.s. army bike?

piss off.

so we started tearing it apart…

day 1:

day 2:

day 3:

day 4:

day 5 pics coming soon.

the idea is the flat green the wheels and the tank and have a white 5 point star in the middle of either side of the tank…

swing arm has been removed and painted a textured flat black.

exhaust will be wrapped in black heat exhaust wrap.

updates will follow…

well even though nobody seems to care, here’s how the tank is coming along…

still kinda tacky here, hopefully it will end up a bit more flat.

coooool rebuild… looks good.

That’s kinda cool, I like it

take your time and make it how you want it. get decals for the stars tho, the one on the tank looks like a 5 year old drew it

the star looks a lot better in person. keep in mind that a major curve in the tank goes right through the middle of the star and the picture was taken on my cell phone. i also want the stars to be a flat white, that’s why i didn’t use stickers.

imperfections will be touched up next time we work on it.

thanks for the feedback guys

Vinyl stickers to lay out the graphics, layers of paint to achieve the desired effect. You should probably try thaaat.

Looks cool though, in for results!

Oh and even if you did use stickers they have flat and matte vinyl available. Fun fact!

pretty cool. id throw in a gold outline around the star. My buddy had an 87 Hurricane first bike i ever rode, laid it down makin the turn outta his driveway. lol. Got any before pics?

those forks look serious.

before pics in the first link posted. gonna get some shit done friday and saturday, i’ll be back with new pics.

Do work son

got some new shots. exhaust is almost done. back wheel coming together as well…

I want a cheap project bike so bad.

i hear ya. i always wanted to do something like this, and i just tore into this thing without caring about the outcome.

the stars are getting fixed as of now and the seat is getting chopped to make it bobberish.

I like it.

I like it as well.

smaller pics with everything all together…
go go go!

my recommendation to you would be to replace those plastic zip ties with metal exhaust ties. Before you know it, you will be dragging exhaust tape down the street or better yet it will end up in your chain/back tire when those plastic ones melt.

Looks good!

the plastic ties were just temporary until the adhesive spray was applied, which took place after i took the picture.
