so i got this this car a few days ago, here is the problem im having, the car will start up fine when it is cold but once it gets warm if i turn it off then try to start it again it wont start. it turns over starts then idles horrible dips form 500-1100 rpms till it kills it self, if i let it sit untill it gets cold fires right back up, also the car when driving acels really weird it almost doesnt want to go but after awhile goes to normal. so far ive replaced the coil packs, plugs and wires maf cleaned the intake and made sure the car was getting fuel and no vacum leaks. it throws a code saying bank 2 lean it use to day bank one lean but i replaced a front 02 sensor and it went away, can any one please help!!!
Bump for you since your post disappeared for a bit.
Are there any codes stored in the computer?
The Lean sounds like the other O2 sensor maybe bad as well.
The way it sounds like it’s running sounds like maybe a bad temp sensor or broken wire to the temp sensor. I know on the V8 cars there is 2 temp sensors, one for the dash gauge and one for the PCM. I had similar issues when my car was warm and it was a broken wire to the PCM water temp sensor. If you have access to a OBDII scanner and can look at actual parameters and not just read codes, you should be able to look at the temp sensor value and see if it makes sense.
Mine was reading -40° to the PCM even though the car was warm and it was 70° outside. (This was causing the PCM to think it was cold as hell outside and dump fuel into the motor, essentially flooding it and making it run like crap whenever the car warmed up. When the car was cold it ran decent though.)
i dont remember the exact code i just remember when we hooked up the tech2 to the car it read lean bank sensor 2, the car when its warm actually works the best it just wont start back up if i turn it off when it is warm, i also replaced the coolant temp sensor. im going to buy an iac valve 2day maybe that will help
I’d figure out the problem first then buy what you need, not just throw money at it and hope it works, jut what I’d do though.
If you have a tech 2 then you can read what all the sensors are outputting. Look for a sensor that’s not doing what it’s supposed to be doing.
now my latest issue is as of this morning i checked the fuel rail for fuel and there wasnt any in the rail, i looked in both fuse box’s engine and dash i couldnt find the fuel pump relay… im gonna junk this car at this point its getting on my nerves. i did replace the iac it was corroded and frozen
Try asking on some Fbod forums too. Your chances of finding someone who had the same problem and their resolution(s) are a lot better.
Fuel pump relay is under the dash by the drivers feet if I remember correctly.
