I usually don’t make posts like this but I figured it was my first honda
So while I was in search for A project car Wanting something different besides dsms I picked up a 88 civic hatch from karter
This is what it looks like when i first got it minus Rims It came with Dough nuts… I’ve Only had the car since jan 09 So I began to work in the cold lol.
I picked up first motor Originally going to do a 0bd1 conversion and swap In D16y8. So i picked up the motor from Shrek Which had gotten the motor from ASHORT. Turns out that motor was screwed up 7 ways to Sunday so I didnt use it obviously. So i decided to Stay Sohc So i went with the stock d15b2 92 hp :roflpicard: And bought dizzy etc from d16a6 for the MPI conversion. So since this is my first honda build I figured id start off small with mods including
Car is metallic grey now
LSD Clutch
cometic head gasket
Arp head studs
14b turbo yes had to have some part of a dsm lol
Dsm 450’s
More pics to come Any tips are welcome lol deff with tunning I have been reading alot bought Turbo Edit roms etc from pgmif.org A lil lost on the whole matter
yeah and when he got it it had my nice white doors on it too glad someone is going places with the car, I lost intrest once i engine swapped it, so i sold the swap and sold it to you :D.
cant wait to see it complete, even tho im sure ill have to help it get there haha
hes talking about the y8.
The crank was whipped, whoever rebuilt it also mismatched the end caps as they were obviously on the wrong rods (you could tell by rod discoloration not being consistant.
The rings were installed poorly, as in part of the ring was out of the bore and turned flat sideways inbetween the piston and the cyl wall, you could tell they were hammered in (this was on 2 pistons causing them to beat up the cyl wall and piston.)
you could tell the block had been blown up prior as chunks of the bottom of cylinder 1 were missing. (this is also the journal on the crank that was whipped)
Not to mention nothing was torqued, i mean nothing, the flywheel bolts came out by hand, as did the head studs.
The onlything torqued was the main caps and rod bearings, none of which were torqued equally.
It was really a pile, I ended up selling the pistons to someone and after closer inspection refunding them because they were beyond useable.
I’m not upset about buying it, just glad that boosting4me didnt put it in his car and get dissapointed with hondas because of it.
Tho according to the other thread ashort didnt build it, so its probably not his fault. A short seemed stand up on the phone when he called me about buying that civic.
