So I spent a coupe days last week trying to pull apart the hub. For those of you who have never worked on subarus the hub is connected to the rear subframe by two lateral links. I broke the one all the way in the back. Where these links get connected to the hub its a 10" long bolt that goes through all three. The problem is, they never come out.

So after I tried to loosen every other bolt only to find that they were ALL stuck. I reassembled it and brought it to the shop across the street from my garage for them to pull it all apart with a torch. Since they were taking it apart I just had them put the new parts on for me which included a $21 10" bolt, and $110 lateral link.

The car drives fine now, but I’m also going to have to pick up the cam bolt, washer and nut, that connects the lateral link to the subframe since I smashed it up too much with a hammer. I also intend on pulling it all back apart to put some anti-seize inside the bushings.

Yeah, that long bolt with any bend to it is not going to come out easily huh? Thanks for sharing the picture, I didn’t know what the suspension linkage looked like on the Subarus. Looks like the lower arm is in a higher location than other cars’ lower arms (maybe a nod to more suspension travel?) plus you have the driveshaft is right there so you kind of have to use two separate links huh?
