Say you have a Mustang. Say you wanted to make like, 600 RWHP.
Say… you wanted to go FI… no Nitrous. Turbo? Supercharger?
A quick google says that way more people supercharge than turbo, which probably means supercharging is cheaper, but wanna also keep this stock-ish looking and keeping this thing streetable and daily driveable (aka, A/C plz).
A little info please like :
Is this transmission (5 speed) going to break?
Is the rear going to break?
Is the bottom end good for power like this for a long time?
Juuust wondering. Also, there are like 812098371028937 Mustang sites on the interwebs. Which do you prefer trolling?
bottom end is only good until 400whp. Then it will blow.
To make 600 rwhp on a 03 GT you need:
Forged bottom end
Trickflow heads would be a huge help. Stock 2v heads fucking blow.
Turbo, prolly a T4 flange, 70mm or 76mm. I’m not a turbo guy so I don’t know model numbers off the top of ym head. I wouldn’t supercharge a mod motor. I see people shoving tons of boost from superchargers into these motors and being just dyno queens. A turbo would give you a much sweeter powerband.
EDIT: You can also do a 4v swap and use stock Cobra heads if you wanted to also get to that power level but the Trickflow heads are more of a direct bolt on.
Yes you’re blow the trans at that level if driven hard. If you want to putt around and go to car shows you could make one live.
Better to swap to a TKO600 or T56
Yes you can make the rear end live but if you want to use that HP, you need to upgrade to 31 spline axels and diff at minimum.
Also, stock rear suspension and bushing will not like that power. Some aftermarket lower and upper rear controls arms should be put on, adjustable uppers to set the pinion angle.
What would be the planned usage of this car? I can help more if we knew that.
My knowledge of that generation of Mustang isn’t what it used to be…but regardless of that, turbo is the way to go. Just like all other builds where people are making big power, those weak Mustangs of '03 can do the same given turbo’d boost. I can’t speak to strength of the bottom end though…
Trans and rear end would probably fail fast if using slicks…however with forgiving street tires I would bet one could make it last a bit.
If you want to know ANYTHING about FI mod motor setups, PM Mike, blownstang01 on Moms… He runs a Procharger on a 284ci mod motor and has gone low 8’s at 166.
But he is supercharged, so it must be a dyno queen lol.
Now why ya gotta be a dick like that joe. You should know I’m referring to the procharged street cars running around here that can’t back up their dyno numbers. We all know Mike’s car is awesome
A lot of people are not going to like that last statement… just sayin
IMO for the cost of building a 2v platform into a big HP monster, there are cheaper alternatives that will be faster. That being said, i LOVE the 99-04 styling. It is a great platform for a swap.
eh, I knew that before I said it. after watching jim back in the day I knew I didn’t want to build a mod motor. thankfully trickflow has finally given them good heads
for what greg, you, and ted have done to the cars on paper, the size of those blowers, the amount of boost, the dyno numbers like greg and ted put up(I know you didn’t get to hit the dyno), I’d expect to be getting rapped by those cars with their current setups vs me on motor and to see them trapping 130-135mph, at least 125-130 for ted. Now, you and prolly greg still have some sorting out to do, but to date I’m still expected better results than what I’ve seen. But they are not my cars so I’m not telling any of you what to do with them. I already told the OP how I’d build the car this thread was made for.
