2002 Denali - Paint Resto

put some 26s on dat shit lol jk

a nice pearl white paint job will set this off right  thats a nice dd

got back to work this morning just as they were laying out some sealer. i almost wish i could have changed the color to something wacky, but beggars can’t be choosers. i’m pretty excited about this, WOOT!

gonna be sexy!

white is so clean looking. def leave it white. looks great sofar.

Are you doing the prep and everything yourself? Are you painting it too, or do you have someone do that?

I’ve done a full prep before (at Brent’s dad’s garage on my old legacy), and it was a bitch. It’s definitely a tiring job doing it right.

i used to prep and paint for about 3 years several years back, but no i am not doing this. it just happens to be our slow part of the year, so i was fortunate enough to have this squeezed into the schedule at work. it is by no means a showroom paint job, but it is definitely better than a POS maaco job. i agree, prepping for paint is the biggest PITA, there is no part about it i like. it should be done baking now, im going to take a walk back and snap some pics.

I hear ya

woooohooooooo! we’re going to let it cure for a day so it doesn’t fade out, then hit it with some trizac and a buffer on friday. i requested some extra clear so i could sand/buff it (thought i was just going to do it in spring), so there are a couple little runs and a few specs of dirt to sand out, nbd. this was way more than i was expecting, saaaweeeeeeeet

over the weekend ill hit the wheel wells and other various places with some trim black, restore the lights and maybe get some clear corners (ricer), and figure out what to do about emblems. im not putting the gmc or yukon badges back on, and im trying to find some black chrome, or black acrylic “DENALI” emblems. after that, tune up and interior detail, and i’ll have a brand new 205,000 mile truck.

looks good to me.

Blackout the turn signals if your gonna do something, white + Black’d out looks

since you’ve obviously recently come into some money, and finished all the needed maintenance, what do you plan to do with the rest of the $2k?

are you talking to me? im confused

meh… i am blacking out the TRIM of the rear lights and reclearing them. i have the earlier model year red trimmed lights, and it looks like ass in combination with the oxidation. i might tint them a little bit, but subtle. the front turns are going clear (the aftermarket are CHEAP), and the heads are just getting sanded and buffed. i may do the center of the grill trim black, but if i do that there’s no going back, so im hesitant. the red part of the GMC emblem in the front is going silver. all of these are free mods with stuff i have laying around. this is my daily driver, while i do want it to look good, i’m not going to dump a ton of money into it. i just want it to look presentable while i run it into the ground for another 100k miles

it was a parody on this: http://www.nyspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82373

LOL nicely played.

ohhhh LOL. i never saw that thread, mybad!

winner winner!!! Looking good Billy boy. cam install?

Sell some more amberlamps so u can put 22’s on it.

Engine mods include spark plugs and oil, lol. Thanks Patty Mayonase. I was going to stop by tonight and hang out/do my axle bearings… But I got free food!

I haven’t seen a big rim I like on these trucks. They all look kind of gaudy. I’d be more apt to put some meaty rims on it with big meaty rubber. I won’t do any of that though. These wheels shined up look fine. On a side note, my dads truck has 20’s on it and it drives like ass in the snow. Mine rips through the snow like nothing
