2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo $1000 OBO

My wifes jeep, had a stuck lifter for the longest time and i think it finally gave way and dropped a valve, cranks and gets oil pressure and at times acts like it wants to start

1000 obo

mileage and motor?

Those were v8’s right?

or 4.0 I6

Oh didn’t know the i6 was still being used in that body style ill have to look into this now

My grandmother has an '04 with a 4.0.

Hmm ok… Yea not a huge jeep fan, I always assumed the i6 was dropped with this body style, I thought that was a bad idea since those are awesome engines, reliability anyway

seems like theres a lot of issues with that motor though. I was thinking about buying a Cherokee a few years ago when I was selling my car and I found several with bad motors or replaced motors.

4.0 i6 jeep motors are fucking tanks, doesn’t mean everything else around them is though, causing motor issues.

My fathers 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 has 228k on it and still runs like a champ. GLWS

Girlfriend had a 4.0 97 grand Cherokee with well over 100k. Engine was a tank and ran great but developed a death wobble and wasn’t the best on gas so she downsized when the kid came.

GLWS!

x2

160K

4L I6

WTF does mileage matter… Motors fucked. Might just be the top end… but I would not be surprised if one of the cylinders is completed hosed.

Even if the motor is dead milage on the chassis is still relevant to a potential buyer.

Meh who gives a fuck its solid and cheap

benny or someone told a story last year about some kid did an oil change on his I6 cherokee and left the drain plug out, drove it to the store and back and it was still running.

the 4L is one of the best motors ever built in terms of reliability/taking shit.

during the cash for klunkers thing i drained the oil on 3 4l jeeps and put the glass chemical in all 3 and all 3 ran for a solid 30 mins at 3k rpm’s one stopped because it ran out of gas

not a fuck to be given.

Guy who bought my dad’s old Cherokee gave it to his son in law and the tard drove it with no oil for almost an hour up the northway before it seized. Guy must have to be totally oblivious to everything to get to that point.

Resale value. Nobody wants to spend a decent amount of money fixing a vehicle with a shitload of miles on it because its not worth dumping money into. Everything besides the motor still has mileage related wear on it.

In this case while160k isn’t bad for the year its not a vehicle that’s worth a lot of money and effort.
