What other changes did the police pack trucks get? I thought they were basically stock Tahoes.
Like its civilian counterpart, the Tahoe Police is built on GM’s new full-size SUV platform. Output of the standard 5.3-liter V-8 is bumped to 320 horsepower and torque climbs to 340 pound-feet. The V-8 features Active Fuel Management technology for improved fuel efficiency, and it’s also designed to burn up to 85 percent ethanol (E85). Curiously, during the Michigan State Police’s annual cop-vehicle testing program (see “Do You Feel Lucky, Punk?” feature), the E85-fueled Tahoe actually performed better than its gasoline-burning counterpart. As on the 2006 model, the engine mates to a four-speed automatic.
For enhanced stability when running at high speeds, the Police Tahoe is lowered and boasts stiffer springs and shocks (the lowered chassis is protected with a skid plate package). Tires are H-rated 265/60R17 blackwall Goodyear RSAs on 17-inch steel wheels; tire-pressure monitoring is standard. Other enhancements for police work include a 26-gallon fuel tank, heavy-duty battery and 160-amp alternator, heavy-duty radiator and oil cooler, larger disc brakes (with ABS), fully integrated wiring (for easy installation of aftermarket lights, radios, sirens, etc.), and special “Dirty Harry” graphics (just kidding). Front and front-side airbags are standard, with roof-mounted head-curtain airbags optional. While prices vary widely (the Tahoe Police is a fleet vehicle typically sold at volume discount), the base package starts at just under $35,000.
$1000 for a motor installed … let me know your source
How many ya looking to have put in?Even at 10 hrs that is $40 an hour.I’m sure I can get a 1999-2001 5.3 with 100k+ miles for $500 all day long. With my extra $100 I’ll change the oil, plugs wires and fuel filter while I’m at it too just to be a nice guy!
I just called everyone i know that would bag/bodydrop this and they are all balls deep in a project already.
lol thanks for looking out tho, appreciate it
wasnt 06 the half year? is it new or old body style
^go to first page and look at the pictures?
I sold auto parts for a few years guys.
I just checked with two of my old suppliers for a motor for this thing.
Greenleaf auto and LKQ both have motors with mileage between 2k and 5k. Six month warranty, I think…
The price is $850-$999 for this motor. Probably a few hundred to get it shipped or pick it up. Nothing real close to buffalo for that price.
Put it in yourself, have a decent truck for 6 grand or whatever…
lol see so a 150k mile one should be $500 all day.Might not even be a motor anyways, just said it has a noise but I’m guessing rod knock.I’ll find out tom.
just found a 5.3 out of 03 Silverado with 120K for $600 or B.O.
Offer $400 and sure you’ll walk away with it.This is only if it needs engine.Or if you plan on keeping a good back up
Derek
just replace the engine yourself and sell it for 30% more profit.
