I will shortly be coming into some money and want to get my Tahoe squared away.First and formost, doing all needed maintenance and replacing anything that is worn out. Then i’d like to throw a few mods at it.
Keep in mind that its a daily driver and need to keep reliability and mpg in check.I do know i will be going through pcmforless.com for my computer tune.
I thought about adding some OE replacement shorty headers.I see Pacesetter has some for a pretty good price. However after talking to a friend of mine at work.He tells me that headers can be a problem from time to time.Like the header plate warping, bolts backing out, ect…so im still kinda undecided about that one.He also said that OE shorty headers can be rather pointless with the rest of the exhaust being stock.
I guess im just not real sure what would be the best bang for the buck mods for this thing.Im thinking my max spending limit for maintenance and mods will be around $2000,maybe a tad more.
I know i need new plugs and wires, rear O2 senser, and front shocks.Oh and gonna have the tranny serviced as well.Basicly new fluid and filter, not sure on a shift kit…
I know these Vortec heads flow real well, however, maybe some aftermarket roller rockers and springs may liven things up more?
I hear ya man,i know these are not speed demons by any means.
However,i did see a '98 or '99 chevy suburban (bigger and heavier) on that show ‘pass time’ run like a mid 16 second 1/4 mile with just intake and exhaust.
I do plan on (after winter) deleting my spair tire, jack, and entire A/C system. If their are any skid plates on this thing i will get rid of them as well.
OMFG,im not looking for this to be a 1/4 mile monster.I just wanted to maybe add a few things to give it some more pep in its step.
Honestly it moves out quite well for what it is.Much quicker than what i expected, esp in its stock form.Handels quite well also.I mean compairing it to other police cars i have owned in the past.
