brdjnky i know what your saying, i hate SUVs for the most parts as well… but I’m more sick of the anemic wannabe SUVs. like H2s… and Excursions… stuff that gets worse gas mileage than the SS but doesn’t perform in any category.
I like the SS cause if I was an automobile enthusiast (which I am) and my wife wanted an SUV (like she does) now we can meet in the middle. She can cruise the kids around in her big SUV, and when I’m in it I can kill mad heads on the street.
I’m not saying I hate Zs, I like them personally.
But I’m saying, the way you are thinking about this is incorrect, because the same thing could be said for your car.
Why buy such a heavy, expensive sports car when you can get more performance out of something smaller/lighter.
Shit, the Ariel Atom is > the Nissan 300zx, it’s lighter, faster, handles 108237918237 times better

It’s the same thing as the retort you are going to get from a performance SUV driver.
Sure, it’s heavier, and may be a little more sloppy around the twisties. But I can carry the kids and all their friends and all the grocery bags, and tow a boat, all while being fast. Oh, that and it has a windshield.
And if you want to put gas mileage into play, I’m sure you beating around in a modded 300zx isn’t going to get much better gas mileage than a performance truck. But alas, his vehicle is much more versatile than yours.

The slow test in the other one tested a pre-production version. It probably didnt have all the kinks worked out of it yet, or maybe it was just beat because that was like the one truck they offered up for all media testing.
some magazines tend to be biased as well (not to mention, less than optimal track conditions could contribute)
it’s that way with almost anything… read performance tests on the same car from different sources and you’ll get different #'s

The Trailblazer SS I believe is rated to tow 6800lbs, so thats not too shabby for a mid-size SUV. Would make a good tow vehicle for anyone who trailers their cars.
