i saw this car at the Ferrari plant in Maranello, i LOVE it…
it actually out performs an F40… that is how they built it up, they had this commericial they shot in the US desert with this car racing an F40 and then at the end htey listed the specs and this car is faster to 60, 100 and higher top speed.
im sure an f40 would out lap it at nurbergring or spa… so thats all that reallly matters.

The F40’s a great car, but what proof do you provide to assume this new car can’t out perform the F40 on the nurbergring or spa?
ive read other articles regarding this new car and realisticly unless its pushing near enzo numbers across the board i cant see it doing much…
none of the other ferraris to date have been able to put down the same numbers as an f40 so i cant see this one doing much better.
ill see what i can find for numerical proof as well.

It’s true, the 599 does have better power:weight. But it’s still in another league from the F40.
I don’t like the Hamann ‘tune’ either… I’m not feeling the aero at all or the stupid-thin sidewalls. 21" wheels? That’s not a race car…
The F40, however, is a race car. I have no doubts it would whip the 599’s ass on a road course.

Mike, the F40 was never built to be a race car, just the closest thing to a race car. They detuned the motor from approx. 700hp to 450hp (approx., let me stress approx.) and we’re surprised at the F40’s track prowess. I’ve heard the stories about the F40 beating Meclaren F1’s on the track however, I’d like to see the new 599 runs Nurburgring and compare it to an F40.
I’ve spent a few minute searching for F40 lap times however, it seems none are available…

What a tough choice that’d be for me…an F40 or a 599 GTB…
I’d probably end up taking the F40 though; I imagine it’d be much more of a raw, driver’s car. It’d be nice to have a legend that ran 11’s in the 80’s out of the box and was only given 1 light paint coat - to save weight. 
Plus i’m a sucker for the looks.
But the whole reason I posted this was because I finally liked Ferrari’s direction on the 599 for some reason…I just like it. Oh, and as mentioned, it IS dirty fast.
Well, my comment was based on the fact that Ferrari themselves have made this car with a faste 0-60 and a faster 0-100 and a faster top speed.
admittedly that doesnt mean it will out lap it, but i didnt really say that anyways.
the information i provided came right from the Ferrari museum in Maranello as i stood beside the 599 and oogled the entire engine / drivetrain / suspension that was set up on glass pedastels right beside it.
the car is not mean to outlap the F40 i dont think, its meant to accelerate faster and to turn every single head in Manhattan, Milan, San Fran, LA, Miami, Tokyo, Paris etc. etc. and to be honest, the car is more appealing to the eyes than an F40 because in part by the fact that is is less functional aerodynamically speaking.
dam…just doing some math here and it seems that i would need to sell more sr20 motors then nissan ever made in order to buy a ferrari…
i better get into some other game asap…
