Wait they have games that dont end in ties? :bsflag:
US got pretty close until they met up with Germany last cup and got fucked on that handball, god i hope they do well
yay US advances
ugh I was hoping people would go back to not caring. In like a two hour span my facebook got absolutely bombarded with Soccer and Earthquake messages. Not sure which was more irrelevant to me.
you should give the soccer games a chance, they’re more exciting than you probably think they are.
Easy now. I like soccer, but a high percentage of the game is pretty bland.
well, I was speaking more about the ‘highly anticipated’ games of the world cup…not soccer in general
I’ve tried a few times…Every time I turn one on it’s always 0-0, 1-0, or 1-1, and none of the 15-20 minute stretches I’ve seen had anything close to a goal. Not nearly interesting enough to tolerate the vuvuvzelas in surround sound. It’s just one team has the ball, runs with it for 10 minutes, then the other team gets it before they have a scoring chance, rinse and repeat.
I’ll certainly admit that it could use some spicing up. Can you imagine if all games were like the Portugal v. PRK game? Make the nets bigger and only hire midgets for goaltenders. Now you’ve got some action.
Just keep in mind how much of a tradition this game is. It really can’t change at this point. It doesn’t have the slightest problem getting people around the world involved, only ADD americans.
The problem isnt even the goaltenders. At least a shot with a good save is exciting. The problem is the field is so damn big and there’s so much running involved that it’s too hard to move the ball 7 miles downfield to get into scoring position. Indoor soccer was a hell of a lot more interesting.
yeah, with the long kicks, it’s really hard to keep control of the ball, so turnovers happen really easily.
Now on another note, if they combined world cup soccer with mediocre earthquakes, the whole would be much more interesting than the sum of its parts.
On paper, the US should fair well against Ghana…
So in reality, who the hell knows what will happen.
