Well next week I find out where I will be for my new job ( probably 4-5 hours away from home ) and ill be driving about 600+ miles a week for the next year possibly. So with that being said I’m probably trading my truck in even though I don’t want to but I can’t afford paying 150+ in gas getting 15mpg.
Well Im debating on a fuel friendly vehicle that I will put about 20-30k on it but won’t lose value like crazy if I trade it in next year or two years from now. I personally hate (fuel saving cars) too small and I feel unsafe . So I came up with the idea of looking at V6 mustangs because ford states" 31mpg." What are your opinions on this idea. I find out next week where I’m going so ill be in the market soon.
Id say a vw gti if there’s service remotely close to where you’ll be. Fit finish, safety, solid build, fun to drive, and the fuel economy. Will snow be more of an issue? Need cargo space? For how dependent you’ll be on this car, I’d base it on more than just looks and fuel. (Get that focus ST at basil).
Cargo no problem and this will be a normal DD . I’m just more concerned with being comfortable . I have had trucks for 8 years and love the room in the cab. I’m not trying to make this a VS thread but just want good gas mileage with out looking like a total tree higher and crammed into a car.
I have been around a few of the 2011+ mustangs and they have a surprising amount of power, If you ever got bored there is a turbo kit that makes 475 on the stock engine and more if you upgrade internals, there is also a supercharger available for them if you wanted to go that route. The 3.5/3.7 ford V6 is a solid engine that is being used in the fusion, taurus, mustang, and F150. There would also be the option to swap the ecoboost block into it if you wanted to get nasty with the V6 for some reason.
good power, good value, good handling. The interior is also easy to live with and although styling is subjective I think the exterior is damn good looking.
I drove the California coast all the way up to Portland, OR in a 2011 V6 Mustang convert. It’s a good car, gets good mileage, has good power. Won’t knock your socks off, but for a dd it meets your criteria.
*The 30+mpg claim is true, but only when you’re rocking highway miles.
I’m not looking for a hot rod, just something that looks decent and gets around 30mpg. I kind of like civics but I think look and power the mustang is better. I am also concerned with trade in value a year or two from now.
I still have my trans am for going fast this is just a DD so hopefully no mods lol.
if you want resale and not miserable then get your pick of diesel VW product or diesel audi A3. shit if 30mpg is all you need then even the 2.0T cars will do that highway, my A3 does it with 270/320tq.
Golf tdi. Comfy, enjoyable to drive, and almost 50mpg. And it will hold its value better than a v6 mustang. Vw diesels always seem to hold their value very well.
If I was gonna be driving 600+ miles a week just for work I’d want way more than 30mpg.
I would assume rear wheel drive is a big issue for the OP otherwise the mustang would not be much of a thought. As much as I love the vag product you just can’t get rear drive. I love heaters and vag cars just don’t do a proper heater.
the 2010+ SHO’s do not get very good fuel economy from what the guys say on the forum. They come into boost really easy and that destroys the economy. My mom has a 2010 regular taurus and she said it does 32mpg going back and forth to ohio all the time but keep in mind she is probably going the speed limit. Even the regular taurus will run low 15’s possibly even high 14’s. I know she spanked my 1990 SHO
