2011 Budget v. Holy Hell!

$3.83 trillion dollar budget! $1.56 trillion dollar deficite! Sweet Jebus! :run:

I don’t know about you, but I can’t get my head around those kinds of numbers, so I put a percent to it. Here is how much we save vs how much we make from 1900 through the projected 2015 budget. (0 = we’ve spent exactly as much as we’ve made, positive = we’ve saved some, negative = debt.) Can you see WWI? The New Deal? WWII? The Stimuluseseses?

ZOMG SOCIALISM!
Gotta spend money to make money… Notice how every big dip into the red ends up going in the green?

The major winners of those times were the huge corporations and central banks. Sweet.

Not to mention the huge recession between the mid seventies to the mid nineties… damn.

What do you think we were doing in the Reagan years?..It was a damn good time to be in the military. Military spending and build up was huge, I don’t see a jump in the green for a while. It was once we started down sizing our military and closing bases that the deficit shrunk. A bad time to be in the military as benefits were stripped and people were forced to retire. (My entire fathers side are all career military officers and enlisted who have since been forced into retirement in those years.)

adjusted to show inflation?

Cant believe WW1 cost more than WW2.

it’s a percentage, not a dollar amount. adjustment not needed.

touche

The Clinton years re-structured the military because they needed to focus on a different type of combat once it became obvious that we weren’t going to have million-tank battles with the Soviets. And military spending doesn’t work as well for the economy as domestic does.

Agreed.

Fun with numbers…
Look at the rate the small business assets are evaporating

^That should be required reading.

Considering we are not in a world war and our economy has not been turned into a war machine, this sucks.

What is more of a concern are the future unfunded liabilities for the next 50 years.

well… so much for a “free market” or capitalism because our asses are going to get burned because of this. It’s probably all things we could easily cut out of the budget too and that pisses me off more than anything
