i was def considering leasing the genesis up until they started talking about this new v6, for less money and better looks/performance id take this
and to answer teh comments about the v6 not being hte same as the v8, this v6 matches the power of all the years previous v8s, actually in 2004 and older, didnt the v8 only have 275 horse? this new v6 is faster in the quarter, and a tad slower in the jump to 60, most likely because of the value of torque
EDIT: NO ONES MENTIONED THE AIR CONDITIONING?!?!?!@*&&%!@&!@&, if that was off with the windows up, it would of been over 50mpg
I agree it is great stats and a great car but it is not like they are blowing the competition out of the water
Camaro 29/304
370 26/322
Genesis 26/306
I am sure next years camaro will get another MPG, Chrysler will have the Phoenix engine out and the other can decide what they are doing.
But for sure, people are now reconsidering a V6 pony car that previously never would have.
yeah I can definetly see a tiny ratio 6th OD gear and 2.72 final drive putting the mpgs up higher than normal, but any car will get awesome mpg if you drive it at 44mph never stopping at lights or for any reason, and never accelerating
I would like to see the other cars running this same test
It’s legit - but it’s also steady-speed granny-driving on a closed track. It’s all in the gearing - the automatic is normally calibrated to upshift whenever possible. That drops dramatically when you put your foot in it. In any case, this doesn’t mean much in terms of real-world driving.
Heck, Popular Mechanics hypermiled a LS3 Corvette to 32.8 MPG, but they did so on public roads.

And yet…
… the car’s lane-change behavior equally surprising—astonishing, in fact. For all its agility in decreasing-radius turns, switchbacks, and fast sweepers, the V-6 Mustang was almost unmanageable in this exercise, scattering cones galore. Further study indicated here.
