2012-2013 BMW 335i Xdrive, Good Buy?

Anyone have one of these or know someone with one? I’m looking at replacing the wife’s 2dr cts with either one of these or the 2 dr ats. She likes everything about the cts except it being sluggish. Thoughts on a 335???

great cars.

get sport package…& a CPO - they can either be bulletproof …or super expensive.

Thanks, yea ive seen quite a few people calling them nightmares if they need service…I’ve worked on a few Audis and I cant see how these would be any harder unless special tools are needed so I’d just have to deal with the higher cost of parts.

I’d recommend the sport package as well (the seats alone are worth it) and a CPO if you can find one. They’re really not that bad to work on though, just a little more time consuming that the average car.

Go for it…but like everyone else, sport package is a must and CPO never hurts. Great DD for all year round

parts aren’t astronomical - but there is just a lot to go wrong. everything in the car seems to have its own computer and/or sensor.
valvtronic motor, vanos, bunch of BS, electric water pump, just to name a few expensive items.
awesome when they all work though!
just go CPO and don’t worry about it. youll like it.

Get the ATS. Great little car, can be had CPO cheaper with the Cadillac depreciation already hit, and much cheaper to maintain when out of warranty.

I cant find these cheap because the 2 door just came out, otherwise it would be my/her first choise.

Nice find…check and see when the 6 year CPO actually runs out tho. there can be a pretty big variance depending on when it was purchased

moving her into a more powerful model of the CTS is not a option?

Mine just came out of free maintenance at the 50,000 but I found the normal stuff isn’t that bad when I was debating doing the extended plan. I mean I got a BMW brakes is like $300 and the oil change is about $100. The tires are the most god damn expensive things but def find one that is CPO

I assure you sluggishness would not be a problem

@Joe that may actually happen…there are a few floating around there with decent mileage and in our price range…if it would ever freaking snow shes going to drive my car around in the snow and see if she wants to go the ctsv route.

The 335i is a fine car, but the modern BMW lineup is underwhelming in my opinion - at least compared to what they used to produce. The CTS-V is much more than a fine car in my opinion.

I drove my V around in the snow until I moved…once I swapped out the summer tires for Continental DWS all seasons and tossed 200 lbs in the trunk it was just fine. The stock tires are total rocks under 30 degrees though.

somewhat off topic - just looked at a car for a friend…fairly clean 2011 328xi 70k miles for 14500.
There are some decent deals out there, these are coming down for sure.

I really want to try a new ATS with the new NA 3.6 and 8 speed. I’m over turbocharged engines.

I had one with the 3.6 as a loaner when my V was in for maintenance. Had a blast beating the shit out of it for 2 days, super nimble in the twisties!

Id like her to get the 2.0 and sneak a tune onto it…

After test driving the Bmw and a new ats were going the ats route. Now I just need to find a dealer who isn’t going to rip us on our trade in. Keyser Cadillac just lost my business for life…
