335 owners are they as bad internet forums say? lol

So I have been searching for one and forum post after forum post is some horror story.

And lots of people seem to suggest ditching them as soon as CPO is up.

I know the HPFP is covered upto 120k but injectors seem to fail very often also.

I assume you only get negative comments online but it seems way more vs various other cars I have been searching for

I never had a hpfp fail, sold my car with the original hpfp still in it even after an upgraded lpfp and running 100% e85 flex fuel setup. It is a hit or miss with those. I think every 335 has had the injectors updated. Wastegate rattle is another issue, oil filter housing leaks after a while and carbon build up on the intake valves due to direct injection is about the most of it. If you are used to tuning a car that is easy to work with (domestic, honda, mitsu etc…) the bmw may not be fun as most things are more of a PITA. I still love the car and the power and torque in a very smooth driving car with great amenities and daily driveabilty.

if you know the weak points why not just address them right away and have a soild car?

If you read any of the 335i forums you can find people who have been through multiple sets of injectors, coil packs, and a various amount of other issues and failures were random.

Example

"My CPO warranty expires in January. I’ve had the car since 32k, it now has 72k. In those 40,000 miles CPO has paid for the following:

-Water Pump
-6 injectors
-3 ignition coils
-Walnut blast of intake valves"

Someone put it like this

“Is it worth putting up with more problems than average to enjoy much better than average performance?”

its crazy that there is no soild aftermarket replacement for those things that fail often

Mmmmm coil packs.

a former colleague of mine who was an older (mid 40’s) family man who wasn’t really a car guy; lost his ass on a 335i.

bought it for like $40k, sold it for like $20k two years later after blowing like $4k - $6k trying to fix those same issues you mentioned. the dealers should be 100% awesome at fixing those issues but they just aren’t for some reason. It would blow if you were pushing your budget for a car payment and were then faced with this kind of downtime & cost.

he was sitting on the car for a long while too.

if you insist on a BMW have you considered going with the E9X M3? they are depreciating hard right now with the F30 M3/4 coming out soon. You can get CPO cars in the low $40k range now.

If you can handle shit gas mileage they are wicked cars. i don’t even feel bad for having a car for one year and having it be worth half what i have into it and dropping every day… you forget about that when you drive it

low 40’s opens up a lot of used vehicle choices…

Not spending that much right now wanted to keep it under 30k

If I was going to exceed 30k the S4 would be my primary option.

2010 335i + CPO pushes the warranty out till 2015

well an out of warranty turbocharged BMW should never be considered if there is any kind of a budget in mind imho.

go japanese bro… or a CTS-V

G37x is/was the back up option.

The cool CTS-Vs are still well over 30

I’m going to be stuck in Napa Valley for 4-5 days next week figure looking at cars out there will kill some time.

Stay far away, nothing but problems

Best car I’ve ever owned. I would buy another if it wasn’t “bad for business” The CPO experience was first rate too. I usually do everything myself, but with my 335 I let the dealer do the work, while I drove around in a loaner bmw.

X…

this. if its a cpo who gives a fuck?:gotme:

Because CPO is till 2015 on 2010 and I will keep this for more then 2 years?

I’m checking pricing on extended warranties

I had an extended warranty, it was great if there wasn’t diagnostic fees involved.

Every problem you’ve read about with the n54 I had in less than a year

This is exactly what I was trying to avoid

It sucked, the bad part was that I really liked that car but I will never recommend the nightmare of problems to anyone else

it sucks that its all luck of the draw with these cars VS having specific model years to avoid

id say bump your 30k limit up 5k and pick on of these up
