501 ft-lbs
at something retarded like 1500rpms too… ugh
I was expecting more since those are the same type of numbers the X5/X6 M is throwing around. Figured they would bump the boost a bit.
hp/rpm 555/6000
Max. torque lb-ft/rpm 500/1500-5650
Acceleration 0-60 mph 4.5 sec
After re-reading I think the numbers are still rumored and not published. Just the pictures are confirmed official.
4.5 seconds sounds pretty shitty
4.5 is the X5 M.
The number quoted in the article is 4.4
The 4.4-liter twin-scroll twin-turbo V8, complete with direct injection and variable valvetrain, offers up a whopping 560 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque – about 10 percent more than the outgoing V10, accessible from lower revs to boot. It also does so using less fuel and emitting fewer carbon molecules into the atmosphere, aided by such features as regenerative braking and stop-start ignition.
Driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission complete with launch control and all the electronic do-dads you’d expect from a modern German performance sedan, BMW figures it’s good for a 4.4-second sprint to 60, with top speed limited (as many German automobiles are) to 155 miles per hour, though the governor can be relaxed with the optional M Driver’s Package for a 190-mph top end. Of course, the M5 isn’t all about straight-line speed, packing an Active M electronic multi-plate limited-slip differential and stability control to help get the power down coming out of the corners.
So BMW made some things official. I didn’t see a price though.
So chip and get 750whp?
I wonder what the transmission can hold?
I can’t fucking wait to do Euro delivery on this shit and freak the BMW guys out with a sawzall when picking it up.
^^^ In for that trip
lol straight piping it right out the factory? ili
Is it going to have full power like a real car or do you still have to play with the onboard computer everytime you want to go fast?:jerkit:
I literally never touch the iDrive unless I am browsing my USB stick for music. You don’t have to fumble with it like they make it out in Top Gear. Start car, press M button, depress throttle lol
Hot.
^^^Top Gear definately likes to make drama out of it.
yeah, I know. I was worried when I bought it because of that video haha. I don’t think that my car is the best car on the planet, but my hangups about it I don’t think are even discussed in the video. More “real life owner” shit. I shut the voice off with that navi in literally 5 minutes on the ride home from delivery. Easy. There’s a stop navigation button, so even if you have the voice on, it’s not ever on unless you specifically need directions. And the M button is cake to “program” if you even feel the need to. It’s actually pretty cool.
it’s also possible I have a much newer idrive revision then the one in the top gear video. they update the software a lot it seems.
Unofficial: 2013 BMW F10 M5 sets fastest production sedan time at the Ring with 7:55 lap
Looks like I won my bet, I will have to dig up that old thread. For reference the 2009 CTS-V did it in 7:59
BMW recalling 2013 M5, M6 models over potential catastrophic engine failures
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “a manufacturing process error” could cause the oil pump’s driveshaft to separate from its rotor, leading “to a sudden loss of oil pressure causing the possibility of complete engine failure, resulting in an engine stall-like condition, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.”
As is always the case with such recalls, BMW will be contacting owners and dealerships with plans to fix the problem free of charge. On the plus side, we’d imagine some owners already know of the problem, considering the brand issued a stop sale notice on the M5 and M6 on September 21.
Damn!
