2013/2014 Snowmobile Season

Do they ever have a bad season in Tug Hill?

The hill has over 12" of base. I walked off the side of the trail in Pulaski to pee and feel down into 16" or more of loose stuff. It was getting a little light up towards Tuggers / Barnes Corners and we heard it was bare east of Flat Rock. It was also pretty light when we were down around Altmar

What’s everyone’s guess for what we’ll get on Wednesday? I’m optimistic but not gonna hold my breath for anything big.

NOAA already knocked the watch down to 4-8".

My guess most of WNY will be lucky to get the 4 and some specific area will pick up 5.

Rofl I’ve done that before. It looks like parts of the hill have a crazy base currently.

Sounds like they’re not quite up to their legendary snow depths. I have a pic somewhere of us stopping at an intersection (near Montague I think) where a stop sign is the same height as my snowmobile. I thought it was a trail sign and the guys who are up there frequently told me we were riding a seasonal road so it was “regular height”.

Looks like were going to be riding in the FLX soon. Seems to be where most of the snow is going to be concentrated.

NESS, Marilla, Colden, Tri-County, Hamburg, Genesee and Shawnee all opened already. Folsom were hoping to open tonight as of yesterday’s post.

We’re going out Thursday night. Starting at the farmers market in Clarence around 4pm and heading for the Colden Lakeside Restaurant for dinner. Anyone want to meet up?

Went out last night and hit up the $5 all you can eat wings at Wales Center, seriously some delicious wings. Put on just over 100 miles but phone died so GPS didn’t have a chance to finish routing. Trails were perfect last night, hopefully this snow actually stays for a few days this time around.

We are heading out to Colden tonight but won’t be at Lakeside until probably ~9, then heading out to Sprauge after that.

Hoping to take my son out for his first ride Friday afternoon. I bought a removable two up seat years ago, but the condition of the seat is listed as “never used”. Wife wasn’t keen on the idea.

So who’s riding tonight? I’m hoping that when I get out of work at 4:30, they will have groomed a good section of trails in Holland/Colden/Boston.

We’ll be out tonight and heading that way. Starting in Clarence around 3:30-3:45 and first stop will be Colden Lakeside for their amazing steak sandwich. We’ll figure out where we go from there depending on what time we get there and get done with dinner.

I’ll be that way, maybe we will run into each other. Could be the best conditions of the year from everything I’m hearing so far

If you see my MXZ-X and a green ZR600 together flag us down. Or come look for us at Lakeside.

Will do. I’m heading out with my brother and sister in law so who knows where we will go. Sno cross races are this weekend too in Salamanca. I was debating riding down there, but I’m sure the trails will be heavily traffic’d on Saturday.

Pretty sure I’m going to ski Saturday but we’re thinking about riding Sunday and heading to Letchworth from Clarence.

I still haven’t reg. my sled and i’m probably not going to. If I can drag my old man off the couch tomorrow night then I’ll be out.

what a great winter for snowmobiling.

You’re joking right? This is the first time conditions have been really good with an extended forecast that wasn’t threatening to shut them down in a few days all year.

Most of the trails in WNY have been closed more than they’ve been open this year. Yes we’ve had some REALLY cold temps but every time we’ve had snow we had a warmup and rain a few days later. With most of the snow being really fluffy light stuff it has been blown clear off the open fields where a decent snow pack is critical to protecting landowners property.

Yes, last night was definitely some of the best so far this season. Went out this morning for a little bit, blew a belt last night so had changed and was setting deflection testing it around Alden. Trails are mint and should stay that way for a while with the extended forecast.

110% out tonight from 7-??? heading out Colden way and then staying overnight at Seneca Allegany for the races.

Ohhh yes, rode home a 2012 Artic Cat 1100 Turbo limited edition last night after I blew my belt. OMG in love and I’ve always been a Doo-guy.
Does anyone own or know of someone with that sled? Any known issues or solid sled as far as maintenance/repairs?

BTW went out for a ride at 130am today and all I have to say is I hope Colden grooms today or tonight, trails were HUGE moguls and pretty blah to ride even with all the snow on top. Boston’s trails after Sprague Brook going towards Springville and looping to the Powerlines were AMAZING broke trail in a few spots and they def got the majority of snow, trails were a foot of powder without the moguls. Unfortunatly I work tonight and tomorrow night, I hate weekend riding but thats when we will be out next
