2013/2014 Snowmobile Season

We’re hoping to start in Clarence, ride down through Marilla then into Folsom and Tri County.

There’s a dude out here in Ontario that has a big barn full of Polaris parts. He might be kinda far for you but PM me if you want his number.

So what’s the penalty of riding a wheeler on the trails?

^ If I see you I’ll punch you in the nuts.

Police wise it’s criminal trespass.

What if I’m on my own farm property? Or outside the markers?
Also why? My wheeler will do way less damage to trails and winter crop than a 200 hp sled with deep lug track and picks.

If you’re on your own property you can do what you want. I wouldn’t be surprised if guys on sleds talk to you about only tracked vehicles being allowed but as soon as you tell them it’s your land they’ll start kissing your ass.

Off your property and riding outside the trail markers is still criminal trespass and nutshot worthy because it will get trails closed down by landowners.

Landowner agreements and the NYSSA insurance is all based on snowmobiles not quads.

Snowmobiles don’t ride trails in the summer. Quads shouldn’t ride trails in the winter. Stay off other people’s property whether you’re on a sled or quad. A shit ton of work goes into making the trail system work and most of the offenders to the rules are non club members who fuck the whole group over. It takes just one idiot to ruin a season for thousands.

Oatka looks like they’re going to be open too so now we’re thinking about heading to Letchworth. Have a feeling by the time we hit Tri-County we’re going to be whooped by the conditions and loop back toward home though.

I need to get permits for Letchworth, can’t ride there at night without one.

Apparently the Greenway trail is a state park now according to the Henrietta Hill and Gully Riders so you also need a permit to ride that at night. Same permit as Letchworth I guess.

:wtf:

If we make it that far we’ll be out of the park before dark.

From Colden’s FB page:

The snow has greatly exceeded the minimum criteria for allowing the trails to open, but the deep snow has slowed down the trail marking process.
Most of the Colden trail system will open Tuesday December 17th at 5:00pm.
The exception will be heading south out of Sprague Brook Park (S49A). S49A South of Allen Road will remain closed until marking is complete. The landowner has asked us not to mark until the hunting season is over. Club volunteers will get that section marked as soon as possible. Once complete we will announce the opening of that section.
Please use caution as there is 3-5 FEET of snow depending on where you go. Groomers have covered much of the system in an attempt to pack the snow and minimize sleds getting stuck, but not all trails are packed and groomer operators reported that much of what they packed on the way out was blown back in with snow by the time they came back on the return trip. Most of the snow was too deep to pull drags through, so in most areas grooming tractors went with-out drags. The club has a new Tucker grooming tractor (shown in recent videos). The deepest snow was between the Colden Lakes and Emery Park up on through to the Old Orchard. In some areas the snow depth was up to the windshield on the Tucker

I will make sure I’ve got my tow rope with me this year. Have a feeling I’m gonna need it this weekend…

We’re packing bungee snatch straps and collapsible shovels tomorrow.

Where are you guys heading this week/ weekend? Don’t want to make the haul out to Tug/OF until I get some local miles on the new (to me) sled. Picked up an 07 ski-doo renegade 600sdi, looking forward to the long track in this deep stuff!

Just mark the trails with spray paint and get it over with.

Add Holland and Ellery to the list that won’t be open tomorrow (list already had Genesee Sno Packers)

Hollands trails will remain closed on opening day. We have to do some reroutes as corn wasn’t harvested in a few fields and we can’t just go blasting through it. The trails captains will be out pounding stakes in some areas after dark this evening and throughout the week. We hope to have the trails wrapped up and groomed by this weekend or earlier. PLEASE NOTE, due to lengthy complete rebuild of the LMC groomer’s hydraulic system, a breakage on the John Deere tractor and the generous helping of white snow we all received, some trail captains will be on snowmobiles doing trail work wrap up. This year, rangers simply won’t make it through the deep, awesome snow. If you see tracks, this does not mean the trails are open for general use! Watch for reroutes this year, follow signs, and stay off of old trails if a detour shows another way. We know you want to ride, and believe me the guys doing ALL this work are doing it because they love it more than anyone, but please be patient and watch our facebook page and http://snorascals.org/ for updates.

Also a give big shout out to all the guys taking off work to wrap up trails and do some unexpected fixes

Trail Update: 12-17-2013 TRAILS CLOSED

We will be working on the safety of our trail system tonight! Groomers will be out tracking in trails, clearing trees that we know are down and making sure trails are safe and rideable.

RESPECT our landowners and PLEASE spread the word that Ellery Sno Cruisers trails will remain CLOSED until further notice!

Any complaints please feel free to contact Jeremy Winchester 716-485-1794 Anyone that would like to volunteer there next 24 hours please meet at Groomer barn at 5pm.

Oh don’t worry I know how much work goes into keeping trails open. I wont be dropping my wheeler in clearance and riding but I do see people on wheelers now and then. I don’t mind them. They are busy having fun. I was just curious. There is non marked trails I take in season that I have permission to be on.

Northern Erie Sno Seekers will open on the 18th but not until noon.

Just waiting on my buddy who couldn’t lay off the sauce last night to show up so we can head out. Going to drop in Marilla and head toward Letchworth. From the trail reports I’m seeing I doubt we’ll make it all the way there because it sounds like some hard riding with all the snow.

You guys wah wah wah not enough snow now it’s wah wah wah we got to much
