40 miles per work day, ~220 miles per week.
220miles / 20mpg = 11 gallons per week. 22 gallons at ~$3.50 per gallon ~$75
That’s about one tank of fuel every two weeks, so lets say $150 per month.
Now if you can eliminate that totally and only add say $15-20 per month to your energy bill ($1.50 per full charge)… You’re driving a nice car for $200 per month.
Now if you’re daily gets worse then 20mpg you’ll save even more! I’m also sure Basil can hook you up with a higher mileage lease if need be.
Good info on the lifetime fuel mpg. I am someone who drives a lot. I would do this solely for the mileage you are talking about.
How does this fair in the winter time with heaters and defrosters? Also I thought the lease was the only option because GM wanted them all back for testing and data.
I was reading up on this too, since that sounded important. The heater apparently kills the range, from 50 down to 30 miles.
Here’s some user thoughts… not much fact, but gave me an idea of the complaints…
Since batteries function better in summer/heat… the range in the warm months will be near the 40-50 mile range, whereas our winters will take that range down quite a bit and you’ll be using gas a lot more…
Typically a full charge range is about 26-30 miles. I noticed that was only during January and February otherwise it was around 30 during the cold. Right now my range is 47 miles.
EDIT: the common way to overcome the use of the heater is heated seats if the car has them. The other employee who has one said that is how he does it and it works fine for him most of the days he doesn’t need his defroster or heater.
