interesting race…

Yeah

BS had trie issues with about 6 laps to go, couldn’t hang on to the podium. Too bad for JL, shouldn’t this rookie type dive bomb ass move be, you know, kept for the rookies? :rofl

This is the tire he was on when he was fighting for the last podium. Bridgestone tires, expect this kind of MotoGP technology in your street tires…:rofl

Also happend to Rossi:

I’m sticking with dunlop or michelin

Wow. O_O

From MotoMatters.com:

"Results and summary of a scintillating qualifying session for tomorrow’s German MotoGP race:

Casey Stoner has taken his fourth pole of the year, winning a thrilling shootout with six other riders to take pole with his very last lap. Pole changed hands at least fifteen times in the last 10 minutes, and four times in the final 15 seconds, Stoner emerging as fastest on a soaking track.

The session had started inauspiciously for the Australian, Stoner’s Repsol Honda cutting out and leaving him stranded with an electrical problem early on. Once back in the garage and out on his other bike, he was soon up to speed.

As the session entered its final 15 minutes, it looked like there would be home joy for the German fans. Stefan Bradl setting a blistering pace, grabbing provisional pole early. The LCR Honda man would be challenged by Nicky Hayden on the factory Ducati, the two men swapping fastest times as they lapped. As the final 5 minutes dawned, Ben Spies and Cal Crutchlow got involved, with Dani Pedrosa not far behind. After the flag fell, the lead passed from rider to rider as each crossed the line, Crutchlow deposing Stoner, Pedrosa knocking off Crutchlow, Spies pushing Pedrosa aside, before Stoner seized control once again to finish top.

Stoner will start from pole, with the Factory Yamaha of Ben Spies the filling in a Repsol Honda front row sandwich, Dani Pedrosa ending in 3rd. Cal Crutchlow heads up the second row, just fractionally quicker than Jorge Lorenzo, with Stefan Bradl dropping to 6th. After a strong early start, Nicky Hayden was bumped down to 7th, just inside a second off the pace of Stoner, while Andrea Dovizioso took 8th ahead of Valentino Rossi. Aleix Espargaro put in a very strong performance to finish in 10th, not just first CRT bike but also ahead of the Honda RC213V of Alvaro Bautista and the Pramac Ducati of Hector Barbera, the conditions narrowing the gap between the CRTs and the factory prototypes.

After a soaking second day of practice, race day is forecast to be dry. But forecasts so far have proven to be notoriously unreliable here in Germany."

Go Spies!

the last lap of GP holy shit Also he last WSBK races were great also!

Why Stoner?! Why?? :frowning:

Stoner’s unforced error = JL lucked out…:rofl. The best battles are for P6.

Unless he is staying with T3, either way, NH or BS will get the cut. Unless by “golden opportunity” the article literally mean he is going to pay in gold, then I don’t see how it is an upgrade for him; if Rossi can’t make podium consistently with that bike, I just don’t see how anyone can win with it.

Riding for Ducati will prove more of an upgrade and truly be a golden opportunity for someone coming from Moto2 like Scott Redding.

Stoner made Podium and won on the ducati he could ride around the bikes issues, I wouldn’t be shocked of crutlow did better than hayden and Rossi.

Hadyen is on the chopping block and so is Spies it really seems like the glory day of Americans winning in moto racing is far behind us. Unless you watch AMA…

Crutchlow would be crazy to leave tech 3 for ducati unless he knows he can make that thing work. Ducati wants to keep rossi for two more years I hope rossi walks. He can’t ride that bike, admit defeat, admit you over estimated your ability, move on.

I wish Stoner wasn’t retiring, I honestly believed he would have eclipsed Rossi in championships. No doubt he would have been the next Doohan.

Officially official.

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is pleased to officially announce Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez as the two factory Honda riders for 2013 and 2014.

Dani Pedrosa, who currently lies 2nd in the World Championship as the season reaches the halfway point, will extend his contract with Honda, whom he has raced with his debut in the World Championship in 2001. Dani is a three time World Champion (2003 in 125cc, 2004 and 2005 in 250cc) and made his debut in MotoGP in 2006, claiming the Rookie of the Year title and fifth position in the Championship. He has been runner up twice and has also finished third in the premier class on two occasions. After celebrating his maiden win of the 2012 season last weekend in Germany, Dani has shown he is certainly one of the contenders for the title in the premier class this year.

Marc Marquez, born on 17th of February 1993, will make his debut in MotoGP with the Honda factory team at just 20 years old. Already recognised as one of the biggest young talents in the World Championship, Marc has signed for two years with HRC. He was 125cc World Champion in 2010, runner up on his debut year in Moto2 and is currently leading the Moto2 World Championship by 43 points.
Dani Pedrosa:
“I’m very happy to be able to announce my renewal with the Repsol Honda Team for the next two years. It’s been a very long relationship with Honda and I had a strong desire to stay here. The fight for the Championship this year is still open and the next two seasons will be very interesting for me. My whole career has been linked to Honda, since I entered into the World Championship in 125cc, then in 250cc and since 2006 in MotoGP. I’m perhaps one of the riders with the longest history with Honda, which makes me feel very proud. I want to thank HRC once again for their support; I’m sure that we have great things to do together.”

Marc Marquez:
“To reach MotoGP next season with HRC is a dream come true. I want to thank HRC for their confidence in me. I am very proud to be part of the big Honda family for the future and I don’t want to forget all the people who have helped me since I began to ride motorbikes. Now my focus is on Moto2 where my team and I are working very hard and we are excited to achieve our goal, which is to win the World Championship in 2012.”

Shuhei Nakamoto HRC team principal:
“We are very pleased to renew our contract with Dani and welcome Marc Marquez to the Repsol Honda Team. Dani is enjoying a very strong season and currently fighting with Casey and Lorenzo for the Championship, we are very pleased with his performance. Marc has already proved how fast he is in 125cc and Moto2, and we believe that, giving him the right time to adapt to the new class, he will also be able to show his talent in MotoGP in the future.”

no shocker there

It’s Now or Never for Crutchlow at Ducati
by staff
Thursday, July 12, 2012
D-Day arrives this weekend at Mugello for either the impossibly over-rated or justifiably popular rider Cal Crutchlow, who reportedly must inform Ducati by Sunday night whether he will accept its two-year contract offer.

Tech 3 boss Herve Poncharal is resigned to losing the Brit from his satellite team.

“Ducati’s priority is to clearly sign Cal,” Poncharal told media outlets. "I have not lost him yet, but I would be really sad because this year he has been fantastic. And I know how much he can still improve.

"I can’t see how he can’t accept the offer he has from Ducati. I am worried and sad, but if he can make good money and have a full factory behind him, then I understand why he would go.

“Does he stay with Tech 3 knowing he will never have the factory-spec bike, and the money is nothing special? Or do you go to a full factory team and earn good money? He doesn’t want the money to travel first class around the world or have a flash car, but he wants to be comfortable.”

Only in MotoGP, it seems, is the kook-aid strong enough for a team owner to lament the unjust loss of a rider when—back in reality—in fact, the reason he’s leaving your team is because you hired someone else for the ride. (Poncharal handed Moto2 rider Brad Smith a 2013 MotoGP contract last year and apparently, um, forgot to extend Crutchlow’s contract.)

Legendary crew chief Jerry Burgess also already has made the mental transition to seeing Crutchlow on the opposite side of the Ducati garage in 2013, as most signs also indicate Valentino Rossi and Burgess will stay at Ducati.

“He will be an asset for any factory team as an up-and-comer,” Burgess said. “Cal is on a bike that has been developed over a number of years, and the next step for him is to pick up that role and do it. Certainly he comes well recommended and he has performed well, so there is no reason why any team wouldn’t be looking at him.”
