2014/2015 Snowmobile Season Thread

Ya and on average have the same horsepower. Lol

Oh Snap!

What are you guys at for season mileage so far? 820 here.

went for a quick ride to the monthly snowmobile club meeting and snapped the damn throttle flapper. Being -12 degrees outside probably didn’t help any.

looking to buy an early SDI 600 or 440 and sell my 800 rev this summer-ish. Must be cheap/high miles/needs rebuild as I can’t let myself ball hard with a sled. I found one on CL but he didn’t reply to my email on Friday.

Trying to make sense of this.

Are you expecting to sell the 800 at a profit and get another Rev with one of the two motors you listed to rebuild and ride for next season? The 440 is a race sled, it’s not going to be more reliable if that has anything to do with getting rid of the 800.

I am at 1100 miles for the season, @travisn I have a nice 06’ Renegade 600SDI that will be up for sale in about a week or so.

Did a little over 120 miles yesterday. Few times had to duck down behind the windshield because of the cold but most of the time it was fine. Top of the ridge near Bryncliff windmills was a little crazy. Wind must have been 40+ and you were riding straight into it at 80mph. Ambient temp of -9 and 120mph worth of wind = some unspeakable level of windchill.

Yea I guess so. Haven’t looked at the 440’s any besides hearing they have a stronger chassis. I just want a non-beaver, fuel injected, (and maybe sc4+) sled. Only plans for whatever sled I get are 136" swap and geared to ~75mph

Unless you want to do a trade + cash for my sled (or dirtbike http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?281670-04-yz450f) I can’t spend that much cash right now.

I don’t think those 440’s are EFI. Sounds like you would be best off looking for a 600 SDI Renegade? Would already have the longer track setup.

Get a null brace kit and never have to worry about bending it. Id never want a 440 for a trail machine, terrible gas mileage, clutching nightmare for trail riding. I don’t even know if they came with reverse.

Clutched and geared 600 is a fantastic trail machine and will pull hard.

I have a Pro-X 440 liquid as a backup sled. It’s a fun as hell ditch banger and motor revs to the moon and pulls like crazy, but I would hate it if it was my only trail sled. No torque, very finicky jetting and clutching.

Anyone going to the bikini Ralley Genesee snow Packers is doing this weekend? I hate them, but they are having a benefit for @r6_chick who was in a bad snowmobile accident. So I’m going to show to support that.

Yea that’s what I was thinking, probably have to mix the fuel too? I put no thought into the ‘440’ part besides I read about the stock bracing the other night. I really don’t know any of the rev variants besides what I have. I haven’t found a good breakdown of what each is and what years they were.

PM me and we can talk about trade for the 800 It is 600SDI, 136" and SC4 suspension. And like @jay_g said, clutched and geared 600 is awesome. You dont want geared to 75 mph though I can tell you that for sure. I am all for power out of the hole but mine will pull 84 (true mph) over about a mile and that is misery. It is what I imagine trail riding a race sled would feel like. I just need to change the gearing (lazy) and it will be great. I LOVE the clutching though, nothing like punching it and hitting 8100 rpm and staying there until you let off definitely changed my mind on a 600.

sweet. in regards to the ~75 mph comment, I just have no desire to go faster. Too much bad shit can happen going that fast. I’m old now I guess.

Isn’t it just easier then to not ride that fast? haha

So I’ve been looking for a tow behind ski-boose to take both my kids out on the trails. My yr old can do a decent ride on the sled with me, but my younger one is tough to keep on. My father in-law just stopped by and surprised me with this in the back of his truck. 1971 ski-boose, body, windshield and pads all in great shape…just needs a freshened up paint job and decals.

YES! I’ve ridden in one of those. When the trails are smooth it better than driving.

It’s not the 75, but how fast you get there.

Yea but I’d rather get better mileage for slightly less performance that I probably won’t notice with proper clutching anyways.
