24 Hour of LeMons: American Irony recap

Here is the quick version:

B.S. inspection put us 10 laps down from the start. We started 45th.

Saturday:

We got black flag for a loose hood pin, put it back in and slapped on duct tape for good measure, in and out lost a couple laps.

I got a black flag for passing a safety vehicle (Suburban) that was pacing around @ 30 mph, driving off the line, put two wheels off and hit the brakes. Probably cost us 5+ laps.

End of saturday we made it to 4th overall.

Sunday the Mustang was having issues so we made it to 3rd overall and 10 laps down (this would have been 1st or 2nd without the B.S. laps). Then the Alt took a crap, we got another black flag. Four battery changes later we ended up in 7th.

If it wasn’t for any ONE of those mistakes we would have easily taken third.

If it wasn’t for ALL those mistakes, well, you get the picture.

We didn’t bring our ‘A’ game and it showed.

7th aint to bad considering one guy had no track expereince, one guy only did half a track day, and none of us had ever been to Gingerman before. The car is still o.k. and no one got hurt so no complaints.

what did they pop your for @ the BS inspection?

Hell yeah - nice job! That’s some serious wheel work to climb 41 spots on the first day.

CONGRATS!

Just because we won last time.

They asked us what we did to the car? Nothing.

They didn’t even pop the hood, or look the car over. Gave them some mircobrews and still 10 laps, Jay wanted the judges to give us more than 10 (they gave us a $499.97 residual value from last year).

Whatever, the B13 SE-R got 188 laps.

Wow…thats pretty good…silly officials…
