Last weekend was another LeMons race at Summit Point’s Shenandoah Circuit. First up was a theme change:
and we set out tagging a bunch of cars with chicken wing baksheesh:
B.S. was a breeze with the new colors, baksheesh, and nice little bottle of bourbon.
Oh yeah, thanks to out sponsors, Swerve for last minute 120 psi tire mounting, Mr. Best Wrench to help cover some maintenance, and Dunlop for at least holding up the trunk.
So the duck died 2 turns into the parade lap:
We had a high of 2nd, and ended Saturday in 4th. Not too bad considering we were taking it easy in the heat and doing shortish 1hr 15 minute stints. The lead car did his first stint of 3 1/2 hours. Sunday we had a transponder malfunction (who knew running a transponder, CB radio and a cool suit pump on a 2 amp fuse was a bad idea). Anyways we didn’t get scored for 11 ish laps and took another 10 laps to fix it.o.k. This took us down to 13th and 27 laps out of the lead. So we decided just have fun, no pressure.
The track was awesome, lots of elevation change, high speed turns, technical stuff, off camber turns, corkscrew thingys and a Karussel concrete with 20* banking.
o.k., one driver had too much fun:
So after he took the checker we egged the car:
After all that still ended up 12th out of 86.
the winner’s $500 car:
People’s Curse scapegoat was a Dodge Intrepid pumped with a few hundered rounds.
