2GB hotmail accounts..hotness!

hmm… gonna have to try that later

if you need that much e-mail space, you really need to get a life

:jerkit: who said anything about needing it? but why not have it if it’s free? never know if u need a large file sent to you or whatever

it’s your typical “my pc/e-mail account//video card/monitor/anything else is better than yours” I know people that go out and buy the latest 256mb video card everytime one comes out even though their old one still works good just because they have to have the latest and greatest, that deserves a

UPDATE 7: Deal is dead

i agree with the gheyness on the latest greatest thing, my reasoning was because i’ve had to send or recieve things larger than that before and wasn’t able to due to the size limits on the accounts.

storage has become to cheap that its easy for these places to offer these crazy amounts of storage space…

how big of a file could you possibly need to send? even with a cable modem at 256 up speed it would take hours to send a 2gb e-mail. And most of the e-mail servers limit the size of messages you can send, so you can’t send anything much larger than 10mb anyway. It’s just the companies and their my dick is bigger than yours marketing policy.

whitey - i know it’s cheap and the companies are just trying to get/keep users, but it’s a waste for 98% of the people out there who use e-mail. IMHO

well i think where e-mail companies are going is that they want to provide e-mail storage for a user to save messages for years. if you ask most people why they use outlook or another mail client its because they can save their e-mails. So E-mail providers are taking not of this and then offering larger mail boxes so you can save the e-mails you get over the years.

I’d venture to say more like 100%…

from personal experience with gmail i like it… all my server log files go there and they are all nice and pretty and archived and such. i never have to worry about deleting the box to make room

If you have 2gb of e-mails you spend waaay too much time on the PC…

ur tryin to tell me that you’ve never had to send someone a file larger than 2mb???

If I have to transfer a file, e-mail is not the prefered method… ESPECIALLY if it’s over 2mb. But 2gb I think is just a marketing ploy… 1gb is overkill even but alot more realistic.

who said 2mb?

my e-mail at work is 100mb and has a 10mb limit on message size and I never once had a problem.
my home e-mail is 3mb of storage and a 3mb message limit and never had any issues either. If someone needs a file/picture/song/movie or anything else that is real big I use ftp or a website to get the file to them. e-mail is not for file transfer.

damn - you beat me to it s10

the damn title of the thread said 2mb due to the fact that it is discussing HOTMAIL… which happens to have that limit. i was only talking about hotmail, i realize there are 10000000000000 other email providers out there with different rules/limits

But 2gb I think is just a marketing ploy… 1gb is overkill even but alot more realistic.

Indeed. Just look at hosting services. They offer 30GB transfer monthly, but I guarantee that if you have even CLOSE to 30GB transfer with most of these hosting companies that their servers will crash.

my dad did try to attach C:*.* one time… it woulda been nice for him in that situation

but he’s very computer unliterate and doesnt deserve 2gb.
