300zxTT vacuume lines help

alright i just had my engine swapped with a newer JDM. so anyways the guys at Japan Auto Parts didnt complete my vacuum lines with the install, the didnt know where they all lead:confused:. I was wondering if someone could help me with them. i have already checked the service manual but i cant see where the vaccum lines are going exactly because everything is so close together. Oh and can i get bad gas mileage from a bad vacuum, because it seems like im burning more than i should

Post pics of the areas that are missing the vacuum/boost hoses and I will try to help you out.

Yes you can get bad gas mileage from boost leaks, not as much from vacuum leaks.

For any turbo car, I will explain the difference

  1. A vacuum leak is an air leak:
    a) Behind the MAF and before the turbo compressor in a “draw-through” design
    b) Behind the Air Filter and before the turbo compressor in a “blow-through” design for a setup using a MAF
    c) Behind the Air Filter and before the turbo compressor in a design using a MAP

  2. A boost leak is an air leak:
    a) Behind the turbo compressor and before the air enters the combustion chamber

Basically, under Wide Open Throttle (WOT), if you put your finger over the leak and you feel a suction, it is a vacuum leak. If you put your finger over the leak and you feel a pressure pushing your finger off, that’s a boost leak.

Boost leaks are horrible on gas mileage and there are dozens of places to get boost leaks on the 300ZX TT. Common places, the IACV at the back of the engine, EGR diaphram broken or disconnected, and don’t forget that there are two small ports at the bottom of each throttle body on the engine.

Vacuum leaks are uncommon, but the most likely place for a 300ZX TT to have a vacuum leak is behind the left side marker light. The first bend in the intake tract has a small port that hose either splits, falls off or is neglected on a conversion, especially when things like a Carbon Canister delete occurs.

Have you tried anything like a boost leak test?

Thanks for the reply.
No i have not completed a boost leak test because i dont have a tester.

I beleive my vacuum lines are leading to the wrong places and or not connected at all, im sure i have boost leaks now that you mention it. but here are some pics from what im pretty sure is wrong as of how it is at the moment.
Its a mess and your help is greatly apreciated,

this the passenger side. Im not sure if that hose leads there, but the length is about right.

This hose leads from the driver side across to the passenger side, but i dont know where its coming from since it goes deep down somewhere.

This little 3 way connector on the passenger side seems wrong to me, and from the service manual it looks like there may be 2 or 3 of those 3 way connectors in total.

the part right there is next to the battery and has a lower port and an upper port, the upper hose is broken and right now leads to nothing.

1st pic - That hose should go to the EGR solenoid. Seems like you have it hooked into the right place

2nd pic - On the TT, that port goes from the balance tube to the boost sensor that’s on the body right after the firewall, above the clutch master cylinder. It’s a little black box and it’s only purpose is to read boost for the boost gauge that is built into the cluster on the stock TT cars. In your case you can plug it. It seems like you have it going to the hose on the Left side AIV. That long hose goes into one of the T fittings that Nissan lists in the service manual all the way in front of the battery.

3rd pic - I can’t see much of that. I’ll have to take a better look

4th pic - Not entirely sure. I can’t really tell but that looks like it should also be for the AIVs.

I’m not sure what you’ve deleted but there seems to be a ton of hoses that you can plug if you’ve deleted things like the AIV, EGR, PRVR, Carbon Canister.

thanks.
Im sure it would help to delete all those things, ill search the web for a DIY
