3500 kbps Down; 45 kbps UP. Wtf?

Calling adelphia techs…

For the last three days I’ve been getting shit service out of my roadrunner.

No hardware changes.
No wiring changes.

Modem / Router / Switch have been power cycled (in order with boot time) more then a dozen times now.
Verified that no PCs in the house are using the connection before or during these tests.
Wireless is WPA2 with 13 character passkey, no SSID broadcast, etc.

This modem is no more then 3 months old.

Fairly consistent results:

Advice?

Post your SNR, down and upstream power levels. My guess is your upstream is around 58dbmv and/or SNR around 30…

Advice… Remove router, try speedtest (if you call you have to remove it anyway)

Call support for a tech.

Did it start acting up after the rain? Maybe a bad exterior connection?

I have wired the pc direct to the modem, eliminating the router & switch. Results very similar.

Jay - eh, about three days ago. So that is a possibility. I’ve also had the siding on my house done, so the line-in has been moved about, but there is no exterior connection…? Pole to modem, which is in the basement, ~6’ from exterior wall.
Tho, i will play with that today, to be sure.

actually…

power cycled all three, and now I’m getting “normal” results, for the first time since the weekend.

c’mon fios.

bump, sigh.

me thinks the router has become paperweight.

pc direct to modem : 60ping, 3600 dwn, 350 up
pc to router to modem: 300+ ping, 3600 dwn, 30-50 up

amirite?

Time to pick up a wireless n router, and gigabit switch (while im at it)?

Might wanna try updating the firmware before you brick the router.

tried that, about 5 minuted before this post.

No new updates since the last time i flashed it in March.

I’d goto a previous firmware, then check the antennas connection, then brick if it no good.

im not even worried about the antennae, these are the wired connect speeds. :meh2:

man, I’d give my left nut to have 45K upload :stuck_out_tongue:

lowest tier DSL FTL

You know… for $10 more you can have 15mb down and 2mb up
